Around this time each year I discover tons of great new Metal bands, old and new. What are some bands you would recommend? I like bands like:

Amon Amarth
Pantera
Fear Factory
Gojira
Metallica
Opeth
Katatonia
Riverside
Mastodon
Rammstein
Nightwish

Each year I'm leaning more towards the dark side of metal and away from the mainstream side, probably due to the fact that metal doesn't get played that much anymore.

What are your recommendations?

EDIT: Forgot to mention a couple of bands I like:

Megadeth
Trivium (especially Ascendancy)

Some good bands listed in here.

I would highly recommend you check out ISIS based on your band list. Devin Townsend's revolving project list tends to be firmly rooted in metal. Also check out Melvins, Neurosis and Earth for a more doom/sludge treatment.

Moving to stoner, check out Red Desert, Holy Mountain(named for a sleep album), Sleep, Boris, Kyuss, Sungrazer, Elder.

Check out Torche and Big Business, These Arms Are Snakes and Keelhaul (hydra head bands) as well, they're sort of hard to put in a genre but are firmly rooted in Melvins upbringing.

I'm not a huge metal guy, but if you love Nightwish you'll probably like Within Temptation. I love good singers and symphonic elements, and those two bands really combine my favorite aspects of music.

I play "The Unforgiving" a lot when I drive.

Some of my favs right now are all metalcore but they are Asking Alexandria, Memphis May Fire, I Killed The Prom Queen, Miss May I.

Also for melodic death..I love Deadlock. Wish they would tour the states.
