Well, its been two years, and since I'm with Verizon, that entitles me (?) to a new phone. I don't really know the specifics of that deal, but I really do want something new.

The LG Dare was nice. I liked it, good interface and all. However, there was a lot of incompatibilities I didn't like about it. Web browsing was hilarious. The mp3 player sucked. And sometimes the OS was unbearably slow. Not to metion, no app support!

What would you all consider to be a good upgrade from an LG Dare that is currently with Verizon? Or should I wait for an iPhone (I really do want one of these, but Verizon doesn't have them yet...) Otherwise, I am leaning towards just getting the Droid.

Thanks!

The Droid and Droid Incredible are the two best phones on Verizon right now (by most people's measures). If you want a keyboard, get a Droid. Otherwise, Droid Incredible. One thing I will note, is that the Droid Incredible uses HTC Sense, which has an improved music app over the standard one. If music is important to you, I would definitely recommend the Droid Incredible over the Droid.

Of course, the Palm Pre Plus and Blackberry options aren't bad phones either, some people prefer them. I'd go to the store and play around with all of them - and don't be afraid to buy one, and then take it back and swap for something else if you don't like it.

The iPhone is in no way confirmed at this point, so I personally don't think waiting makes sense.

I have felt pretty strongly about the Droid and have used it very little. I am very excited about the prospects with the Droid. I could even write applications for them should I feel so inclined.

I was wondering if there was anything extra required to use the Droid, such as a fee for GPS, or data usage (similar to the iPhone)?

It comes with Google's GPS Navigation, which is free. However, Verizon does require a data plan on the phone.

you don't get a new phone you get 50 to 100 depending on yoru month plan towards a new phone.

I'm in your position I have a dare and right now I"m waiting to see what comes out this summer. If a verizon iphone hits I'll be happy. It might force some price cuts on the incredible or possibly a low 2 year price for a droid 2 if it comes.
