Thing is, I really like the feel of the MX700, I've had it for 3 years now and I still think it's one of the most comfortable mouses I've ever used. Now I need a new mouse, wireless and if possible one the most similar physically to the MX700 as possible. Anyone have a new mouse they'd recommend?

What is going wrong with your mouse? I have an MX700, had it for quite a while, 2-3 years. The right mouse button is behaving erratically.

It started a while back that sometimes a click wouldn't register and I would have to click again. Now it is behaving erraticly. If I click and drag a file, one of several things may happen:
1) it might drag successfully
2) it might drag partway then drop before I release the button
3) the file might open as if I doubleclicked

It has become almost impossible to highlight text.

I don't know if the mouse button is wearing out or maybe I can try to clean it. I hate to buy another mouse because I also like the mx700.

I've heard of many MX700s wearing out after 2-3 years and developing those symptoms (my own did the same thing). I bought an MX1000, but I now regret doing so... the wheel mouse is a LOT harder to click than the MX700's was. Instead of buying a different mouse, I just changed my habis, to avoid middle clicking... but I'll still probably buy a new mouse for my desktop sometime soon.

Does anyone here have experience w/ the G7's middle button, as compared to the MX700 and MX1000, and can say which one it resembles more?

I just bought a new mouse for my laptop... "Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical". It's the most comfortable mouse that I could find on a budget. I have one of the first ones that were sold, and its worn out, so I figured I'd buy one just like it as a replacement. :)

My MX700 was still under warranty when it broke down -- but when I called, they replaced it with an inferior product. They wouldn't do anything to help when I complained about that.

I would say G7 too (that is what I use on my main PC). I use it with a mx3000 keyboard set. I tried the mx600/mx610 mouse that came with it for a bit, and that is not bad at all either if you don't game. Definitely a different shape though than the mx700.

MX1000 is what I use and I love it. No problems and very accurate. Since I don't play to many games I do not know how good it would be for gaming though. If you are interested in this mouse, I would be willing to part with it for like $40 shipped if you want it. Haven't had it long at all, and it is actually overkill for what I do, so let me know if you are interested and I can send pics or any other info if you want it.

I would not get the mx1000 for gaming as I have heard it lags pretty bad. It's the perfect office mouse though... if you don't have the $$$ to spend on a g7, the g5 is pretty much the same thing with a cord (a nice braided cord I might add)

Only thing I don't like about the G7 is it's missing the "forward" thumb button that accompanied the "back" button on my MX510 and your MX700. Although I do miss the second thumb button when key-binding my G7 for games or when I have to reach for that forward button on the browser, its other glowing positive features outweighs Logitech's cave to people with uncoordinated thumbs. Enjoy.
