I currently have a 160GB Hitachi SATA drive from 2004 as my Vista boot drive. It's not big because I don't need a lot of storage on my boot drive, that's what my 500GB-1TB drives are for. However, in the past couple days, hard disk performace has... suffered.

Obviously, I need to replace this drive. I'd like a Raptor, but I don't want to spend $1/GB.

What would you guys recccomend?

Since you're new here, you might want to read this.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

I know of two different drives I'd recommend. There's a $1,400 price difference between them. Which are you interested in?;)

1. Under $150.
2. Not $1/GB.
3. Best performance/dollar. Space isn't really a concern.

Oh, and I do have a few 147GB 15k RPM SCSI drives, but I would not put those in desktops.
