Time for a new computer...

Well, its been a little over two years since I first built this bad boy and I think its time for retirement.

Since then, I upgraded to the X2 4400+ and 2 gigs of RAM. Anyway, Im going to build a whole new rig, so I'm most likely gonna sell this one off. What could I get for this (the comp itself, no monitor, speakers, headset, mouse, etc)?

Also, any recommendations on parts?

This is a rough estimate:
CPU: Something Core2Duo
RAM: 2 Gigs
Video: 8800 GTS/GTX
Mobo: something SLI compatible
Sound: Creative Xfi platinum/elite
2 DVD burners
PSU: Something that can handle all this + another 8800GTS/GTX down the line
Floppy drive

This is just a rough idea of what Im going to get...There is no rush, I dont quite have all the money saved up just yet. My limit is going to be ~$2000 (total).

Ive been out of the loop for a while...when would be the best time to buy? Any really nice things coming out soon? Any recommendations on parts?

Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate it

Do what you want, but I would say its NOT time for a new computer.

Yes the C2D is the talk of the town right now but your $2000 upgrade looks like it only gets you bragging rights and the top of the line video card. Maybe you should just get the video card now and see if you really need to spend money on the rest of the system.

There is nothing wrong with your system now. Like Justly said maybe your video card should be upgraded the 6600 are pretty nice but not for some of the newer games. Wait till may, prices on the core 2 Duo will drop again soon and the lower end of the C2D will get 4mb of cache as well. Be patient, well get a new card now and you can just transfer it to the new build when its done. currently i recommend 7900Gs card, a very good and cheap power house of a card and this will hold you over till ATI new cards come out. the beauty of this is competition, weather or not ATI beats Nvida or not, there will be two choices now and prices will fall some. Here is the link to the card i think you should get.

not too many boards that are as good as this puppy but be warned she runs hot so get a good case like the antec's 900 or thermaltake's shark, and well thermaltake has a lot of cases to choose from when it comes to great cooling. but here is my pick :

good luck and really PM me, id love too help.

the core2 e6600 is around $300 atm and one thing to remember about the 8800GTX for sure at least is that ONE card alone requires 2x PCI-E connectors from your PSU, SO GL
