Well, I used to use a Sony Cameras, the tiny DSC cybershots. So, I went to look at them first, I really like the T2, T200, T70, T20.

they are all very similar, T200 has a touchscreen, as does the T2 and T70. The T2 has built in 4gb of space, but is a bit more then 300$.

Basically the necessities of the camera are :

-- Rechargeable battery, that you can just plug into the wall, like you can with Sony cameras. (I have having 4 triple A batteries laying around).
-- Small point and shoot, dont need a fancy, huge DSLR
-- Decent night images, I dont expect perfection, as these tiny p&s's dont get their flash very far
-- 200-300$
-- I would rather have a better battery life then a touchscreen, so normal screen is perfectly fine.
-- built in memory over 2gb is a plus, but not expected.

I mean, if the T2 and its predecessors are the only ones that would meet my expectations, I have no problems getting a Sony again. I just thought I would see what else is out there in this price range.

Update : I purchased a NEW Sony T20, as it had all teh features I wanted, and when taking a picture shakily, it takes really unshakky ones. It also takes 'action' shots very nicely, I assume its because the shutter is going real fast :p.

It has a nifty program mode where I can switch around options and stuff, ISO, shutter speeds, etc.

Plus battery life is realllly high compared to those bigger touch screen ones.

i don't have them nor use them before, so I can't say much.

I own an older Panasonic Lumix camera and it's pretty good. I think I got it for ~$250 at Circuit City or something. It has good pre-programmed modes, a nice screen, and a rechargeable battery with great battery life. The image quality is pretty good... not the best I've ever seen from a P&S, but definitely good enough for all of my purposes. I think mine has 7MP or so but the newer versions of my camera are 10MP.

well, any other pointers? I am still stuck with these few! As well as that Fuji, even though it doesn't look pretty, probably the best performer, no?

in terms of ease of use, the Canon beat Fuji by far. Just set it to Auto and everything will fall into place (except low light, and I am talking about the Canon SD1000). Granted, I like to mess around with control so my Fuji F50 may give a higher sense of satisfaction in the long run. So far it is quite picky and less forgiving with my imperfection.

Good buy, I bought the T200 when it first came out and love it, its a great pocket camera and the best thing about them is the lens doesnt pop out like most cameras!

one of the main reasons I love the sony's. just too much more that can go wrong if that thing locks up and whatnot.
