Time Flies

my old work place put up banners in the warehouse when someone hit 25 years. Was always fun laughing at them. They were so embarrassed.
 
I can't imagine staying at a job for more than 3-5 years. The amount of money that you can get from leaving is so much higher than the crappy promotions that most companies give out.

Depends on your field and location. If you are in a situation where the average time to find a new job is a year or so just hopping around isn't a guarantee of anything.

It's hard to imagine any field or location where it takes a year to find a new job unless you make 100k+ in the middle of nowhere. Besides, it's not like you have to quit your job to interview.

Sometimes that can work out, but sometimes, companies absolutely hate job-hoppers.
 
Time does fly.. Too fast. I can't believe I've been out of college and working full time for like 8 years now already, it's crazy. 2015 already, it's just unreal. I remember when 2000 hit and it was a huge deal, feels like it was not that long ago but it's been 15 years.

It's true what they say, life is life a roll of toilet paper. The closer to the end you get, the faster it goes.
 
You get a pension? People working for government usually quit to take their pension and then start another job so that they can get pension and income. Awesome way to go

That's just a myth perpetuated by companies to keep people from leaving. If you have any kind of marketable skills then companies are more than willing to overlook job hopping. Just make sure not to burn any bridges on your way out. In fact, all my friends that jumped every 1-2 years AND were great at what they did earned much higher salaries than the ones that did not.
 
Congrats olds. That is a pretty cool milestone.
Before my father in law retired he spent around 30 or 35 years with Caterpillar. I believe he was an electrical engineer working on systems for their skid steer line. At the end anyway, he worked on many product lines over a 30+ year career.
