Time Capsule setup not allowing windows xp machines to print

basically i have a 1TB time capsule machine setup and i have 2 macs and 2 pcs plugged into it or wireless. i also have an epson photo 1280 printer plugged into the usb port on the back of the time capsule. i go to the windows xp machines and run bonjour and it shows the printer in the list that i need to install. i click next, click have disk, locate the driver i found off the internet and then click finish. however, when i go to print anything, the computer pauses and nothing ever comes out. it eventually errors saying it can't communicate with the printer.

any ideas?

i have checked the port settings and matched them up with a vista laptop that prints just fine. i did exactly what i was doing on the xp machines on the vista machine and the vista machine works perfectly.

update*: i tried installing the printer locally via usb on the pc which worked fine. then changing the port number to the correct one (IP_dhcppc1.local.9100) that works on my vista machine...still no luck.

workgroup doesn't have anything to do with it does it? my vista machine is on workgroup but the xp machines are on mshome?

ok this is unbelievable. got a new printer and still can't get the damn thing to work on windows xp machines. same drill, i run bonjour wizard, chose the printer, click have disk, choose the right windows xp driver, click finish. everything seems to be fine. i try to print, nothing happens. i have even tried manually installing it choosing the port and everything. PLEASE anyone have any idea?

Working on the same problem as you. I moved a LaserJet from JetDirect to Time Capsule. Used Bonjour to set it up on XP, and also one other Laserjet with built-in Ethernet.

XP errors out on printing after a delay.

I had similar problems in XP on Parallels - Bonjour sees the printer, but by the time it tries to use it, it's gone.

The solution with Parallels is to turn on sharing from the Mac side.

Without a better solution, you can do use your Mac as a print server and share the printer to XP clients on the network (use Postscript driver on XP.) Look at the Mac Help.
