Who do you have on meet the press now? who is your go to guy for election coverage?

Condolances to him though - he didn't deserve to go out this way this early especially on the precipice of a great election

Oh snap....he was about the only true journalist left IMO. :(

Agreed. Lost a real good one today. One of very few I could actually still stomach on American television. :(

KT

same here. As far as American journalism goes.

I heard Sheppard talking about him behind me (news is on all day at work), and I didn't get what was happening until 15-20 minutes later. What a shame.

One of very few reporters that I am sorry to see off the air.

Wow. Really sad. I just started following him with the primaries and all. He had a really strong presence. A smile like a big kid. So sad.

I am SHOCKED than an obese 58 year old guy could die of a heart attack!

RIP Tim, his fair journalism helped keep NBC's leftward slant just a little more towards the middle than it will be now!

for the love of all that's good and holy, please dear god no.

my guess is that it'll be David Gregory... whether it's full-time or temp will probably depend on the ratings.

one of the best things about TR was that he could make a reasonable claim to be nonpartisan in his job -- he always seemed equally hard on people from both sides of issues.

Agreed. I love Olbermann, but he is a partisan Democratic hitman. David is the logical choice.

Wow! :(

I didn't dislike the guy, but I didn't really ever watch him either.

Scary when people just drop dead like that...

Not to the extent that Olbermann is. Olbermann foams at the mouth and jerks his junk at the opportunity to burn a Republican. David just seems to have it out for President Bush. at least when he was spending most of his time in the press room grilling Tony Snow -- I can't exactly blame him for that ;)

I have a habit of watching/listening to the MTP podcast Monday mornings while I work. It's the only "political analyst" show I watch.
