Has anyone tried the disc golf mode? I'm not that interested in regular golf, but I'm considering buying it just for that.

I didn't find the disc golf much of a challenge. After a round or two, I was basically getting a birdy on every hole. It's played on the regular golf courses so all the holes are pretty much wide open for disc golf standards.

Actually, the best golf game available is one you guys cant even play.

Incidentally, there are two downsides to this system. The first one is: If you wanna get full enjoyment from the thing, you gotta pay 10 grand for simulator. Also, they only have about 20 courses in the box and you need to pay a pretty penny for the other 50. Having said that, I still think its a better deal than paying 50-60 bucks for a stupid white box with Tiger Woods' face on it.

Sorry for the hate, its just I've been ticked off at how EA Sports treats the Windows and Mac platform, and I blame most of that on the console people. Games have become way too consolized lately and I still believe the best controller for a golf game is the mouse.

For reference: I think '03 and '04 had the best gameplay, and '04 was nice because it had a buttload of extra courses.

Do you have one of those near you? I've never seen a golf sim in person, and I'm pretty surprised by that. Seems like they would be popular, especially in hot places like Arizona. Would really like to play on one.

The Dave & Busters out here has one, I hate golf in real life, and I think it was pretty close because the one time I played it I did not have any fun at all. But on the plus side I wasn't in the heat, didn't have to walk and there was a table next to me with an ice cold Newcastle on it.

Can anybody figure out how to get consistent power on this game?!?!?!?!?

I bought the game, 3 extra motion+ controllers, and two extra wiimotes for a get together of old friends who I used to pay golf on the PS2 with. In other words - no small investment.

We hadn't all been in the same place for years and I thought it would a blast to actually swing the clubs with them instead of using an analog stick. I personally enjoyed 2007 for the Wii.

To make a long story short - none of us could get any kind of consistency of power. It was fun for ten minutes and frustrating after that. We would use the exact same swing and the power would vary between 75%-95% for no apparent reason. One of the guys is a scratch golfer and even he was shaking his head in disgust. We quit after about 14 holes.

That's not fun, that just sucks. You can't play video golf like that. I know I probably could have just turned off the advanced swing but why should I even have to consider that?

I ended up throwing 2007 in, chucking the motion+ controllers, and the consistency problems vanished; fun was restored for a couple of rounds. I feel lucky that I had the other game or the whole thing would have been a total waste. But by then we were all burned out and we went back to playing 04.

I'm so %^(ing disappointed in Tiger Woods 10 and I'm never getting fooled again by this franchise.

Don't give up after 14 holes. A lot of factors go into club power...swing speed, how much wrist snap you use, follow through.

Anyways, I'm not too impressed either, so far it seems like a slightly better version of Wii sports golf. Fun, but not the realistic game I was hoping for. Motion plus is also a disappointment so far, I couldn't tell if it was on the first time I played...maybe It's still not on for all I know 😛

You probably aren't bringing the club back for enough. It isn't just about how hard you swing. Bring it back farther, especially on drives and long irons.

Like I wrote, one of the guys is a scratch golfer so by definition he has an extremely repeatable swing.

trust me - he was bringing the remote back like a real club and following through. there was no consistency in the amount of power that was being registered.

And it's not the placement of the motion sensing bar. TW 2007 worked fine.

Maybe we were all doing something wrong that none of us could figure out.

NP here. Played Beth Page and Wentwood last night under career mode. I like the game quite a bit.

I was consitently hitting drives about 275-280.

My arms are little sore this AM but I think overall it's a pretty solid game.

I can get 90-100 every time, you must not be doing something right

Being a scratch golfer has nothing to do with it. I'm about a 25 handicap in real life, and can get 100% power almost every time. Also, the sensor bar isn't used during a swing.

Turn your hips, like you would with a real swing, and be sure to bring the wiimote all the way back. You'll figure out how to get 100% and then you'll get it every time.

The scores in this game are total BS. Playing on Oakmont on the AMATEUR tour the top 5 golfers are all -25 or better under after 3 days of play. Which is like 60-61-59. I can't imagine what the scores are going to be for the professional tournaments in the game. I feel like I'm playing really well (I'm -21 under at Oakmont) but I'm not even in the top 10. Blarney I say.

I've had the same thing happen and have read similar complaints on a couple other forums. It seems like the computer players' performances on the following rounds are adjusting based on how you play in the previous or first round of a tournament.

Everything fell into place on my first round of that early Shanghai tournament, came from 4th or 5th on the last couple holes to shoot a 12 under, I think the second place guys were -10 or -9. After playing through the first hole of the 2nd round, everyone else on the leaderboard was -20 to -24 for the tournament through anywhere from 16 holes to F. That's anywhere from -14 to -18 for the CPU's for the round. I'd get somewhere like -20 for the tournament, and still be tied for something like 12th place.

It's like the game expects you to keep up that ridiculous pace of one really really good round throughout every round from that point on, and it completely takes the fun out of it, since instead of being rewarded for playing a great round you get punished for doing well. That 3 stroke difference should be a cushion, not something I have to overcome x3 for the rest of the tourney just to stay in the top 10.

It's a shame because the game is really a lot of fun dispite some of the other inconsistancies and annoyances.

Yar, I played St Andrews (I think it was) which was a really easy links course and shot a really good score. Now I play a tough course like Oakmont and everyone finishes -37 under 🙁

effin computers shot 50 in the last round of this q-school tournament 🙁 - Most of them got 62-65s the first round then the final round they all shoot 50 and 51, setting the bar at a ridiculous -52 under par for the tournament.
