Wrong, he was paid long before he became a married man. Who really cares that he's a married man anyways? The average fan surely doesn't. You might as well claim his parents are owed hundreds of millions as well since they created him, and were part of his media image, far more than his "wife".

What kind of insane thinking do you have that raising his children should cost 750million. let alone entitle her to such a sum. This wasn't imposed by any court. If the amount is accurate (remains to be seen) or not, this is apparently the agreed upon settlement. If it is worth $750M to Tiger that doesn't make her wrong.
 
$750 million down and he's still richer than everyone on ATOT put together. $750,000,000 is OUCH even for him, But the remainder is still a damn huge chunk of money.

It is very possible that he'd have made as much money if he'd had remained single and cultivated that image, highly doubtful, but its possible. The problem is, he clearly was using her just to market himself as a family man. This absolutely played a role in how much money he made from the sponsors and fans that he did.

If you're simplifying this to them just being together for several years then, do I really need to point out that there's obviously much more to it than that? You guys have no idea. Florida is a no fault state which they live in so it doesn't matter who does what and it doesn't factor into the divorce but of course she gets most of his wealth. This isn't the Dark Ages, no man or woman should get any money in a divorce. It takes two to ok the divorce. You hear about it here in Cali all the time, the wife cheats but still gets more than half of everything cus it's a no fault state.

This is NOT a court ordered sum. He is NOT being FORCED to pay it he and his lawyers/team AGREED to it. This has nothing to do with prenups, no fault states or divorce laws. This is (supposedly) a contractual business agreement between two consenting adults. He pays her $750M, they divorce and she can not spill the beans about whatever skeletons he has in his closet.

However, I think either those skeletons are BRUTAL or he's fucking dumb as shit. Or, maybe he just feels the guilt for what he has done. Realizes he was a complete ass, and loves his family to say "fuck it. I'll give it all to them"

That being said, quite honestly, I don't think it's the public's business.

What a lot of these posters here don't realize is this was NOT a court ordered settlement. It was what TIGER agreed too. He either has a shit-ton to hide, or he just feels that since she is likely going to be the one raising his children for the majority of the time from here on out, that he's giving her AND HIS CHILDREN the bulk of his money. Not to mention he's bound to make a billion more in his lifetime.

If anything, assuming the latter is true, it shows some class on his end. Now he needs to get his head back into his game and start crushing (and demanding that EA make a better freaking golf game with his name on it)

Given that, despite his infidelity, Tiger's never struck me as a complete and total jacka$$, my guess as to the reasons for the agreement would be:

1) Tiger truly wants to attempt to atone for his actions, and this is one way he sees to do so
2) Tiger's legal and PR teams want him to appear to the public to be wanting to atone for his actions
3) As Tiger's an athlete, his ex will likely be spending a significant amount of time raising their children; thus, he wants to appropriately provide for their care and support
4) Tiger plays a sport in which competitors typically compete, at some level, into their 50's and 60's; thus, he has decades of earning potential remaining, so he has the possibility to recoup most, if not all, of this sum
5) Tiger wants to put this entire debacle behind him, and does not want it rehashed two or three years from now with the release of a tell-all memoir from his ex-wife
