I know this is old, but I thought it was funny now that Tiger won the U.S. open on a gimp knee 😉

"You know what? I'm gonna change the name now," [Mike] Milbury said. "It's gonna be Tiger Wuss. Here's a guy that took about three months to get over a simple arthroscopic surgery. You look at (Pittsburgh forward) Ryan Malone. His face exploded with a slapshot last night - he's back out in 10 minutes!

"Keep your yap shut, Tiger, or I'll send a couple of wingers down there - (Penguins forward) Gary Roberts - to tidy you up a little bit, meathead."

I have always liked Gary Roberts. Imagine woods being raileroaded by Roberts on the green 🙂 Woods might snap like a twig.

Tiger is 32 years old, is 6' 1", 185 pounds and is pretty built.
Gary Roberts is 42 years old, 6' 2", 212 pounds (don't know his physique).

I don't think Tiger would go down as easily as you think -- that is unless Roberts kneecaps him 🙂

100 >> 5.8

According to Nielsen Ratings, only 11.9M average viewers watched this year's Masters tournament.

In contrast, 1 out of 2 tv sets in Detroit and 1 out of 3 in Pittsburgh had hockey on tv during the most recent game. Source

In terms of regular viewers(US figures) of major games/races its

Football>Nascar>Baseball>Bastketball>Horse Racing>Golf>Hockey>Tennis>everything else

It was two months IIRC. Second, only a handful of people know the exact procedure that was done. Most suspect it was more than a simple scoping.

I don't think Happy Gilmore would be pleased....

Hockey is a lot more exciting than golf and would have more viewers if the season was longer and if ice rinks were more common... I think the only reason so many people watch golf is because it takes FOREVER for a match to end, the matches end up on major networks and nothing else is on TV while the match is going. This allows them to count people stuck in bars with no other sports on for hours being forced to watch Golf until a REAL sporting event comes on.

By the way, I love to play golf, but can only watch it for a little while before I lose interest unless you have a shootout situation like Tiger and Rocco.

Season was longer? I though it was already late Oct to early June. Thats far to long.

As for more ice rinks. Hell Texas Tech has its own hockey team(club level). As does Texas A&M. There are plent of ice rinks. IIRC Lubbock has a minor league hockey team for awhile. Fort Worth, and Austin still do. Theres plenty of hockey/ice rinks out there, it just doesnt matter. I dont think either are the problems. Hockey is just as boring as golf and baseball to watch. The NHL also killed it self with over expansion.

Gary Roberts is a freight train. Tiger is well toned, more gymnast type physique if you will. Hockey players are trained to take hits, I don't think that is part of the golf training. as to stick fight, again, hockey stick is longer and sturdier.

I totally understand people loving golf when they are the ones playing. It's very challenging and it is really you against yourself. I just don't get the people going on the course to gawk.

????? Where are all these rumors coming from that Tiger can bench 300+ lbs? I saw him working out at Equinox in LA a year or two ago and his workout was nothing specacular. If I recall, he was benching with 90lb dumbells.

I think it's hilarious that hockey fans are getting so riled up. Tiger didn't say golf was better or more popular than hockey, he was making a comment that anyone else would make....I mean, it's no secret that hockey is a bit behind some other popular sports. He also didn't say he was tougher than a hockey player, that's the best part about all of this. Hockey people crying 'OMGZ HE TOOK SO LONG WITH HIS KNEE WHAT A WUSS!!!' What the hell does that have to do with anything??

Plus, considering he's the wealthiest athlete in the world and probably the greatest to ever play his sport, I'd say he's earned the right to mouth off about whatever he wants.

wtf does that have to do w/anything?

It has everything to do with the mentality of hockey players -- fight first, THINK later 🙂

He didn't diss hockey, he just stated a fact 🙂
