Tiger Direct...

Every time someone posted in the hot deals forum and it was about a tiger direct sale, people usually cringe or just stay away, no matter how good it may be. I actually bought from them before I started lurking around this forum, thinking nothing of it. My cpu and motherboard combo arrived on the scheduled date, and worked perfectly.

There was a little mishap however, and i removed my heatsink taking the cpu with it. I called tiger direct and they actually let me do an rma for it. I did an advanced replacement in which they sent me a brand new cpu. Now after doing this, i figured that i would end up having to pay for both cpus, but to my surprise I found out that my card was credited back the 250 dollars yesterday. And to top it all off, I actually recieved a confirmation email of them having recieved and beginning processed my rebate.

Now I know that this probably won't change much in terms of how much people hate tiger direct, but I was just surprised at how this turned out, considering all the nasty rumors and experiences people have had with them. Now the only thing I'm hoping for is that my $100 rebate for both cpu's (3400+ s939) come through lol.

Quoted. So you got a free A64 3400, or what?

Tiger Direct has a reseller rating of about 7. Most of the vendors ATFers buy from have 9+ ratings. One should also take into account that those with problems are more likely to take the time to do a rating than those that had a smooth transation. My personal experiences with TD are from some time ago and were generally smooth. And the forums are rife with negative experiences - particularly with hardware. Perhaps you should take the time to rate them at resellerratings.com to offset some of the bad.
. re. some of the other replies. By your own admission, you should have eaten the replacement costs. If you were honest about how the damage occurred when requesting the RMA, then all is fine. If not, then you just helped to drive prices up (and make our lives more difficult as Newegg, and probably others, has had to tighten their RMA policies due to fraudulent RMA claims) for the rest of us.
. The test of character is what one does when no one but God is watching...

i told them very specifically what happened and they offered me a solution... thats it ;b i was hoping that they would do something about it, considering this little incident happened only 1 week after the product's arrival.

That's different. Most people mess their stuff up and just return it because they don't want to pay for their mistake.
