This is pretty hot if you don't mind dealing with Tiger. I have had no problems with them and their rebates, but they have had a shady past. Hopefully they are improving. I wonder how hard a time they will give trying to cancel the CA software?

Please update title to reflect it is TD and with a rebate.

According to reseller ratings, TD customers have had the worst time in regards with getting rebates back.

Good deal if you get the rebates, but as others have said, they usually don't come.

1 rebate is through OnRebate (pretty reliable since they have tracking and everything). You may have to email OnRebate if you don't receive the rebate after the 8-10 weeks though. The other rebate goes through the same place (White Bear Lake, Minnesota) as I sent my Buy.com or Newegg rebates (I'm still waiting on my rebates from almost 2 months ago from there).

If you don't get the rebates, then at least you didn't spend too much more than retail price. Even 1 rebate brings this 3200.10 320gb drive shipped to you below the normal going rate ($90-$95 on newegg).

This is true. You are only out about $12 IF both rebates fail to show up. Even if one works you are ahead of the game and if you get both (which you should) this is a hot deal. This deal is stone cold if you dislike Tiger or are not into rebates but if you don't mind dealing with either of then, you can't beat the final price.

What if you don't sign up for the CA internet security? Will the rebate still valid? There's no requirement regarding showing proof that you signed up?

By purchasing the combo deal from TD, the CA software "signup" is automatic. Cancellation is done via 800# call to TD support CSR, before the "30 Day Free Trial" is over. The 30 days begins at time of purchase.

It must be difficult to get some on the phone to cancel. Also they will hassle you before cancelling.

Cancellation took about 5 minutes waiting on hold for a live person, then a simple 30 second conversation to cancel; just give them the order #, and cancel the free trial. CSR then offered a "Free 3 day resort stay", which was declined. End of phone call.

Edit: phone number to cancel "trial": 800-888-6111

You could also use a one time use credit card #. 😀
Then they couldn't do anything really. Maybe paper bill you, but they couldn't charge your account again for the ISS.

Well, yes very hot. After rebate. 😛

Maybe I have been lucky, but as of today I haven't had any issue with getting a rebate fulfilled from TigerDirect. <crosses fingers>

That hard drive is really good. I almost bought a couple for $90 each from Newegg but I held off since I'm so poor.

Onrebate is really good about approving rebates but really bad with actually sending them out. They read from a particular script of excuses depending on how long it's been since the rebate was approved and how many times you've called them. If you sound really angry they'll send your rebate check on the first call. If you sound wishy-washy they'll make you call 3-6 times before they'll mail it. Yeah it should be illegal for them to do this, but it's not like there's such a thing as a legit rebate company.

One of my calls to them was great. I ended up with a black guy who could barely read going through his script, mispronouncing half the words as he told me of a ka-TAH-stro-fic computer failure that "lost" all of the rebates from a particular promotion.

I highly recommend doing this with any sketchy/known fradulent at times company like TD - and for those of you with paypal, for most accounts you can get free one time use virtual cc numbers IIRC

TigerDirect and rebate dont go well together.... I used to do much business with TD and I have had many many issues with their customer service and at least 50% or more of the rebates I submitted came back rejected. I made copies of all submitted forms and everything on them was clear, legible, and correct.

If you deal with TD then dont expect a rebate to come back without issues, if it does then great! I personally would rather spend a few bucks more somewhere else....

Onrebate tried to say I didn't send in the UPC with an XFX Playstation 2 controller promotion for $20. I scan all documents and the stamped mailing envelope before sending in any rebates. Anyway, a single polite email with the scan of the UPC and a promise to contact XFX, the BBB, and "anyone else who would care to listen to my complaint" got the rebate approved within 2 business days. Superior documentation and threats are the only things rebate processing companies understand and act on.

Edit: Before scanning or making copies, make sure to initial and date every scrap of paper.
