I bought my wifes wedding ring at a pawn shop. Didnt mean to, was there looking at stuff and asked to see their rings. I didnt like what they had on display and the guy brought me out his "special" rack from the back room. I was smitten with the ring i saw and bought for her. Was a two piece that clamped together. Had diamonds all over around the white gold hearts and on the wedding ring part mount was a big diamond with white gold heart beads. It was so beautiful, looked old, and was a deal I just couldnt pass up of $60
It was the most beautiful ring I have ever seen and shortly after we were married we went to the Jeweler she got my ring at to get it re-sized to fit me. I asked to have hers appraised. The guy who appraised it said it was an antique and asked if she would sell it to her. He offered her $6000 in store credit for her ring. She looked at me and I told her it was her ring to do what she wanted, I didnt tell her where I got it from, but I told her I didnt pay anything near that at all and I wouldnt feel bad if she took the offer, which was a lie I loved that ring and it ment a lot to me giving it to her, but I love her enough to respect her decision as well.
She didnt sell it, she told me if he was willing to offer that much it must be worth more to someone else and its worth more to her then anything anyone would give her because I picked it out and got it for her.
Anyway point is it doesn't really matter where the ring comes from or how much it costs IMO, it matters on how you feel when you pick up a ring and hold it in your hand and what it means to you when you give it to the person you love. It should mean your feeling towards the person you love, not the price tag associated with it. It could come from Tiffany, KB, A pawn shop, your mother, where ever. But most of all it should represent your love for her/him. I just knew when I held that ring in my hands it was the one that told her what I though of her with the beautiful hearts and intricate designs all over the ring. Yes I paid $60 but honestly if it was $2000 or even more I would of paid it for I knew that was the ring.
