Which is the best way to get tickets for an event? I tried calling last year on the day/morning they were available but they had sold out quickly. Any tricks to get tickets?

In person. I have had some very frustrating wait times when I have called in the past.

Online has gotten A LOT better recently (at least from my experience). Before a scalper with an automated program could get in and keep flooding the requests but now you have to enter a randomly generated keyword to get to the ticket confirmation window which has cut down the hassle tremendously.

I'll probably try online again this year and hopefully the scalpers haven't found a way around the new security method. I heard rumors of private numbers for scalpers or something but I don't know if it is true.

Certain parties get dibs at a portion of the best tickets, plus many seats are reserved by people involved in the event (producers, production companies, venue, radio stations, etc.)

I found the best way to get tix is to check periodically between 2 days and 2 hours before the event. Last minute tickets always open up.

Good suggestion. Waiting for seats that were "Production kills" that are no longer needed to be released can often get you great seats real close to showtime.

I've given up with doing it online if its a hot ticket......the volume is just aweful. I will be going in person from now on.
