Ticket Question

I got a ticket up in Maine last month, but I live in Massachusetts. The ticket was for a stop sign violation. Anyways, the ticket says it must be in no later than 20 days, and tomorrow is the 20th day and I didn't mail the ticket in yet:Q. Should I pay the ticket and put it in tomorrows mail, or should I just not pay the ticket at all since it's out of state?

I don't go to Maine very often, but the ticket says that a warrant will be issued for my arrest if I don't pay it within 20 days:Q The ticket is for $92. Will I be in the clear with my insurance company if I don't pay it, also will I have trouble renewing my license here in MA?

That's exactly why I said don't get pulled over in Maine again. lthough I suspect that if they run your plates they'll pull you over for the warrant.

As for the insurance, I have no clue.

Is it really worth $92 to you to take that kind of risk?

I better just pay the damn ticket, I don't want to end up spending a night in the slammer for something so dumb😛

Oh, but surely a night of Bubba's lovin' would cement in your mind the hazards of not paying your tickets...

Just carry an envelope with the $92 with you in the car, and when you get pulled over and they see the outstanding warrant, show them the envelope and tell them you were on your way to maine to pay.

I'm not sure about Maine but a lot of states have reciprocal agreements for just such things. Not that a warrant will be served but more like your driver license will be suspended by Massachusetts until you get the ticket paid in Maine.

Forgot to mention that a reinstatement fee to get your license back is usually assessed in these cases. In Indiana it?s somewhere in the neighborhood of $150-$200.

These guys are right. Pay it. It'll suck if you don't and forget about it and ten years from now you are on a family vacation and get pulled over and it pops up and you get hauled away to the slammer.

I wonder how many states actually do that, the agreement thing. My Grandfather has at least $300-400 worth of tickets from when he was driving down to Mexico. Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas... At least, that's the claim....
