Just fight it through trial by affidavit. Was it a lazy state trooper? Those guys are the easiest to fight in court.

Whenever the CHP in California do their "crack down on speeders" program on certain freeways, they ticket people for going 70 in 65.

Wrong on both counts.

While radar _used to_ only display the strongest return, modern police radar units are capable of differentiating multiple returns, this means that the officer will get both your speed and the trailer's.

"Drafting" is a phenomenon that only really occurs at speeds above 75-80 miles per hour and necessitates that you be within 1-2 feet from the end of the vehicle in front of you. If you're farther back than that, you are caught in the wake turbulence of the trailer which will increase drag for your vehicle and will decrease fuel mileage. And being within 1-2 feet of the car in front of you is just damn stupid.

75 in a red CRX, by yourself (no pack of cars), while passing a truck to make it obvious how fast you're going = ticket. duh.

do that in a station wagon in the back of a pack of cars and you'll suddenly find yourself invisible. 🙂
