Hey guys,

I bought Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun awhile back, and I lost the CD case which holds the CD key. Is there a way to find the CD key within the CD?

It isn't like I'm asking you guys to give me your serial numbers, I'm just wondering if I can find it on the CD so I don't spend the rest of my life looking for the friggin' case.

T47-

I stepped on my CD, cracked it, and dont use it anymore (obviously). If you want my key, I don't see a problem there, if anyone objects to this, I will withdraw my offer.

Drop me an email and I will send it to you.

Hope I can help a fellow gamer in a jam.

Gorgonzola - Uh all he did was ask WHERE he could find the CD key, not FOR a CD key. Lay off the guy...

T47, the registry may hold this information... that is if you have an existing install.

You could also try requesting a replacement from Westwood. It may mean sending them your existing CD in exchange for a new one.

The CD does not actually contain a key, instead the program uses an algorithm to determine the validity of the key you type in.

If you all read his original request, he is not asking for a CD key from anyone, he is asking how he can find it. A valid request.

Food for thought. When I get a new piece of software with CD Key/serial number, I make a seperate note of it and save it in a *.txt file with Notepad or something similar. I then save it to CD in it's own little folder.

I won't be asking if there's anywhere I can find my CD key/serial Number and going throught the stick you are. Oh yeah, You should look after posessions, didn't mom teach you that? How do ppl actually lose their cases?

😉

good recommendation... I also write down the CD key and then tape that to the (top) of the CD... If I lose the CD, then I'm screwed anyway

Sad you didn’t come back a realize how douchey some of y’all sounded back in the day. I came looking for a modern day answer to this question and saw everyone’s head was up their ass around 2000. Mom should have taught ya some decency and respect.

😉

So you came here 25 years later, to use inappropriate language to those members of the past. Who sounds douchey now?

Appreciate the info. I was rummaging through some old crap and found my C&Cs in an old hot wheels cd case and wanted to play em the old way. Haven’t seen the original case in at least 20 years.

In a way this really underscores why digital distribution systems like Steam have become so popular.

I condensed a lot of my jewel case game collection down to CD wallets and the back half of the cases are just a mess of cut out CD Keys.

At this point it might be easier or even cheaper depending on how you value your time to just buy the game for a couple bucks through Steam/GOG/Whatever and just be done with it.

It’s free to download these days depending where ya look, but I just want to feel that nostalgia of playing a physical copy of a pc game once more
