I've decided my GeForce 256 DDR is getting too old to play games, so i've been looking for a new gfx card.

But with in the last couple of days many UK web sites have been removing ALL GeForce3 Ti500's, the only one that seems to be available everywhere is the Creative.

After looking round for an explanation it appears the the GeForce3 Ti500 has been removed due to serious problems on the cards (ALL OF) a nVidia error.

Is this true in anyway. I was going to buy a GeForce3 Ti500 @ around £200 ($300USD), thats the cheapest I can find here in UK. But if there is problems what card now? The GeForce4 Ti4600 are coming in around £320 ($450USD), bit dear when not too long they are gonna be a lot cheaper.

Regards,

I have been running a TI500, Visiontek for about 3 months now, with no issues at all, fast card, and displays my LCD nicely.

The GeForce 3 Ti500 series is not being pulled because it has problems, it's because the Ti500 is being replaced with the Ti4400 / Ti4600 . Why would nVidia continue to make the Ti500 when it competes in price with the Ti4400 (and uses an older, slower core)?

The GF3 Ti200 series will also go once the Ti4200 makes an appearance (not for awhile).

The Ti500 series is fine; I thought it would be a bit more obvious why they are being pulled however.

only asked dude, thanks for you info.

So is it still worth getting a Ti500 or splash out the extra £100 ($150USD) on a Ti4600?

There's nothing wrong with the GF3 Ti500, it's just that the upcoming Ti4200 is both faster and cheaper than the Ti500.

So is it still worth getting a Ti500 or splash out the extra £100 ($150USD) on a Ti4600?

If you can afford it, definitely.

nope, sorry,

I was looking on the net for one and a mate said he rang up some suppliers for prices for me, and they told him they had pulled em due to a hell of a lot of problems with all the ti500 cards.

Probably like what jiffylube1024 siad, they're pulling em becauase they wanna sell more ti4400 and ti4600's

I would wait for the GF4 Ti4200 to arrive here in the UK,I know quite a few people over here that will be buying the 4200 as soon as it becomes available, also it will be cheaper then the 4400 as well.

From what I've heard, they're not being "pulled" per say, but nVidia last month stopped supply any new GeForce 3 chips to board makers. This means that most retailers have only their current supply to sell, and when those are gone, they aren't getting anymore. That may be why the cards are dissappearing from availability.

Sounds like a good answer zimmie6576, makes sence.

I can get a GeForce4 Ti4600 for £300 ($423USD), I suppose this is the best card to go for? yes?
