ti4600 or ti4800??? difference?

OK, I am stuck on this. Is the ti4800 just a ti4600 that supports 8x? Are they the same clock speeds? It seems like the ti4600 has a 300mhz clock and the ti4800 has a 275??? PLEASE HELP!?

4800 = 4600 with 8x AGP
4800 SE = 4400 with 8x AGP

It should be the other way around but i didnt make the naming scheme.
I have a ti4800SE from MSI, and its a great little card, although I wouldnt get one now. Id go for a Radeon 9600pro
 
not much difference. and you shouldn't buy one anyways, look at the half life 2 benches. fx cards are direct x 9 crippled.

being that theres a comparably priced alternative that isn't crippled, no reason to buy fx cards

nobody said anything about buying fx.

If he indeed decides to get a 4800se, itll run HL2 faster than an fx, bc it will run in pixel shader 1.4 (dx8) instead of 2.0 (dx9)

9600Pro hands down man, it'll handle DX9 at playable frames, and the Ti4800SE will b a slideshow.
 
9600 pro

no doubt about it

benefits over 4800:

- directx9 (half life 2 and other future games will be playable)
- probably cheaper

I know its hard to buy from a company that i used to hate over one i used to love, but over the last 2 weeks i realized the truth: nVidia has lost the crown
 
there are 4 cards on the market for gamers. 9600pro 9800pro and 9500 pro and 9700 pro. Anything with nvidia in front of it isnt worth looking at. Not because im an ati fan but ati is the clear winner here.
 
OK, so if I could afford the 9500 pro, would it be better for games? I thought it wasnt dx9, or is it? I guess it would help to know that I would go for the sapphire 9600 pro...clocked at 400/600(300x2) over some of the other cheap ones, with memory running at 200x2. I am mostly interested in performance with doom 3, since I plan to buy it when it comes out. But also, I want to play all my games now....mohaa, bf1942, and that kinda stuff. Thanks guys.

The 9500 pro and 9600 pro are about the same in performance I think the 9500 wins most of the benches though. if you can afford it get it. Any of these cards will be amazing for those games. if you can afford it try to find a 9700 np.
 
IMHO wait for a 9700pro to drop down a little in price. then buy it. isn't there also a "hacked" driver taht turns a 9700 into a 9700 pro? i think there is. that could be a good way to go.

They stopped making the 9700 a while ago, and it's getting hard to find, look for the 9800 np if u can find that though..
