Ti4200 or Ti200? Is there any difference in picture quality?

Hello,

I want to upgrade my videocard but I was wondering if there's any picture quality difference between those cards.

When I saw Serious Sam2 from my GTS then Ti200, the game looked better. Would this be same for

Ti200 -Ti4200? or is the Ti4200 just running faster and not much of difference in quality.

Does anyone have a comment about this?

Thanks.

Which would you get from my poll?

btw, I am not a serious gamer nor I plan to be one.

Your hardware specs say that you have an AMD Athlon XP overclocked to 1800+. With that much CPU power, only a Ti4200 would do the system justice.

i do have an XP CPU... so does that mean picture quality is noticeable between ti200 & ti4200?

Quality? no not noticable. But I'd but the GF3Ti500 from compgeeks, as it is enough for most of todays games, and the 4200 still will not play the DOOMIII generation of games.

I've got a GF3 that I've had almost a year, and am not upgrading untill DOOMIII

It depends on the company. Since nvidia has no control over the 3rd party OEM's decision for filters (2d filters), some of the cheaper OEMs choose to implement cheaper filters that have poor 2d quality in comparison to some of the more expensive brands (see Anandtech artcile, as it was really serious in the geforce2/3 generations).

I have a TI4200 made by Dell, and it is best image quality i've seen in a geforce to date. Also note that the radeon 8500 (if its BUILT by ATI) is on par or faster than the ti500 in most situations, definitely better than the ti200, and has great 2d quality.

quality - you mean the Video DAC accuracy?

image performance - you mean the level of detailing?

why wont the 4200 play on doomiii?

I have a TI200 overclocked alot and it's a great card. It runs nearly everything just fine.. has some troubles with UT2003 but that's the only game I've seen it slow down on.

That seems kinda silly. I mean, by the time Doom 3 comes out, NVidia will have gone through 3 product cycles. He might as well buy a 4200 now, keep it for a year, then buy a new card. The 4200 will be a higher performer for longer than the Ti500.

I'd but the Ti200 as most will OC to 500 level without any effort.

Save the money for the next generation.

Unless you run above 1024X768 I doubt and difference in visual quality will be an issue.

What picture quality? 2d? If so, then model doesn't matter, manufacturer does. For overall picture quality, save yourself the trouble and get the Radeon 8500.

when i said the picture quality, i meant the picture quality during the game plays. so i guess 3D.

you guys are saying manufacture matters with the 2d quality.. so which brand is good with that?

Radeon 8500 hands down has my vote. faster than a ti500, better pic quality. 50$ cheaper than a ti4200. besides you'll be buyin a new card again next year.......dont we all? hehe
