What is the difference between the 200 and 500? Is it just ram and core clock speeds?
thanks,

So, in theory, i could make my Ti200 a Ti500 with good enough cooling?
thanks,

if you get a good sample a ti200 could overclock as high or higher then the ti500

the ram is the issue... although a 25% OC isn't all that terrible, so you might be able to. cooling tends not to help much with ram since it has limits for different reasons (you have to charge the capacitor, cooling doesn't help much with that ;))

Quite a few of the different brand's boards are using 4ns memory on the ti-200's anyway though, which means they are rated to go to 500Mhz just like the ti-500's.

I can get my ti200 to 250/478. Higher than the stock ti500 core, but less than the memory. I havn't seen one yet that wouild overclock as far as a ti500 would overclock and I don't thing it will happen, but you can pretty much squeeze out stock ti500 performance.

I'm presently running 220/490 using nvMax on my VisionTek Ti-200 (from Best Buy for $100). :)

I haven't hit it's limits yet . . .

If you get a Ti500, you can reach even higher speeds.

But let's not forget that if you get a Ti500 you can overclock it as well.

Most people seem to forget this fact.

I think you're missing the point. True you can OC the Ti500 over it's default settings and get to ranges probably not possible on a Ti200.

The point is that you can buy a $170 ($99 in some cases) Ti200 as opposed to a $350+ Ti500 and possibly get it to perfom exactly as a stock Ti500+. Half the price for the same performance is something people get excited about.

Well said. Why get a ti500 and bust your sorry @ss and get obscene speed while you can pay 99 or 170 to get a ti200 and get a ti500. :) You don't need the extra speed anyway.

I'm definitely not going to get the same speeds as an overclocked ti500, but I get 7499 with my oc'ed ti200 on a stock 1.4 athlon and I'm pretty happy for a 99. card.

My Gainward GF3 Ti200/450 Golden Sample runs happily at 240/500, same as a Ti500. Haven't tried any higher so far, but I bet there's still a little more in there.
