TI-89 Users - Question

How can I enter data into a table and use a command like LinReg to calculate the regression?

I need to figure out how to first enter it into a table, as in, where I can do this, along with how to use the LinReg command. I don't know how to give the LinReg function the variables it would need from the tables where I enter data in.

I remember doing that from my previous TI-84, but how do I enter in the tablename itself? On the 84 there used to be a screen from which I could give it the variables like the table

Yeah, that's how it works on an 83/84, on the 89 it's not there like that.

keeleysam, I know I need to type it, but what do I press? 😛

We're not allowed to have 89s. I've got an 83+ myself, still don't know how to fully use it. Wish I woulda got a 84+ SE or 86+.

Uh, you use the alpha key and actually TYPE THE INDIVIDUAL LETTERS.

You don't know how to type on your 89? o_0
Hit alpha once for one character, hit alpha twice to turn on alpha lock (hit it a third time to go back to normal)...

The stats apps aren't installed on the 89s unless you have a titanium (i think). If you have a link cable then you are gonna have to upload them on.

I just type in "list1" or something?

I don't know, was expecting a menu or something like in my previous 83/84's where I could just select it

In the table, hit F5 for Calc, choose LinReg, enter C1 and C2 for x and y, hit enter. It will give you the equation of the regression line and the correlation.

I don't know if you figured it out yet or not, but you hit apps, then 6 (for data/matrix editor), then new and type in a name and the type is data. then enter your data in c1 and c2 or more if needed. then press F5 for calc, and find the regession you want, and then type in c1 and c2 for x and y, or depends on how you entered your data and which you want for each.
