Um, we learned in the 3rd grade that multiplication = division in terms of order. More like "wtf why am I an idiot?"

The calculator is parsing the equation using BODMAS sequence. Starts with Brackets, then Other, then Division, and so on.

You have successfully shown that the calculator follows the order of operations correctly.

7.4/2 = 3.7
3.7/pi = 11.623892805

Addition and subtraction - same tier of the order of operations.
Division and multiplication - same tier of the order of operations.
And the calculator knows this.

You guys are harsh. I haven't used a calculator since my last math class in 1991 and I have to agree with the majority here....dpopiz is a dumbass. Read the manual
Einstein.

How is 3.7/pi = 11.623892805?

Which is why you should have a TI-89 :) Pretty print wins.

HP's new offerings don't really appeal to me at the moment since I've been using the 89 for so long, but they do have both RPN and algebraic notation now at least for us non HP users.

How is 3.7/pi = 11.623892805?

from the context, it appears he meant 3.7*pi=11.623892805

It's BEDMAS. The e is for exponents.

And division IS multiplication. They're the same thing.
