Wrong... she had her cellphone in her sig. I'm extremely surprised that a 'large tech company' allows her to do this.

I work at a relatively large finance company and my cell number is on my business car and I could have it in my sig if that was how you could best reach me. I don't see a problem with that, particularly since it was a work cell.

1. per james bond, it was a WORK CELL
2. You never receive calls and texts from someone at your company you JUST met past 10pm.
3. Someone who took an sexual harrassment seminar should KNOW that this is a grey area and not to fuck with it.

1. Ok? Then I'm even 'more right'

2. Uh, where in the world do you work? Unusual - absolutely, but calling someone on their work cell past 10pm isn't automatically harassment, lol

3. Yeah, no joke - he should know not to be doing all of the crap that's going on, but it's still happening.

My main point through all this is:

This guy is not (yet) harassing her. Asking her if she wants to wind down after work is not harassment. Getting her company cell off her sig (when she previously seemed ok with hanging out other than that she had class) is not harassment. Sending her txt late at night still isn't harassment.

The bottom line is that there has not been any harassment as of yet. If she goes to HR or whatever they aren't going to fire this guy as he can defend everything he's done.

I was under the impression from all the hooplah that this was a personal phone, since there is absolutely nothing wrong harassment-wise with someone calling a work cell late at night.

I too could have sworn OP said it was a pesonal phone. I don't know how else I would get that impression.

it's not harassment "yet" = guy is encroaching on dangerous territory

but w/e, there's nothing to argue about. WE AGREE.

gf should tell her firm NO and if anything else happens which resembles harassment she should then report to HR.

 AC707. Good, solid advice.

Coming from a lady who has navigated the professional world...I'd say it's possibly the best advice in the thread.

(wait...am I allowed to call AC707 a lady?) :p

Have a mod send you her email and ask her if she wants to wind down later at a bar.
