THX Cert Speakers

I went to THX.com and they only listed on complete set of THX speakers. This seems odd to me since THX has to do with the speakers pairings (along with other things). Anyone know where to look at/see prices of THX certified speakers?

THX certification is mainly marketing, especially in the computer speaker department (your 5500s).

The 5500s are THX Multimedia certified.

As for searching on THX's site, I got 208 returns for searching all manufacturers for all THX Categories for speakers.

If you're looking for an improvement over the z-5500s, the list of results from THX wouldn't be where I'd tell you to look.

That is because companies selling high end speakers typically do not make pre-boxed packages like cheaper companies usually offer. They generally sell each speaker individually (or in Pairs). If you want a full THX certified set, pick a LR front set, a matching center, and grab 4 surrounds from the same company.

The subwoofer company generally does not need to match the rest of the speakers typically however so any THX Sub would work for what you are trying to do, though I do not really see the point of a THX certified speaker.

Yeah I most likely won't shell out the money to do so but would love to see what a full set would cost

Edit: Cheater than i thought it would be. $900

I guess the bigger question is why are you concerned with THX certificaiton for speakers? As Yoyo said, its really just a marketing thing. A "THX Certified" speaker setup isn't neccessarily better than one that isn't, it just means that that company chose to pay THX for the use of the THX license, and the other didn't. Yes, there's a minimum standard they have to meet, but it doesn't mean much.
