Thunderstorms suck

This morning at approximately 7:05 AM the main electrical line into our plant was struck by lightning. Four and a half hours later we brought up the first of 11 lines.

So much to getting any time off for the holiday.

Ouch. We have a diesel generator that has enough power to supply all of our critical servers power indefinatly, as well as about 100 standard PCs and 1/3 of the buildings lighting at work. We also have the power coming into our building at two seperate spots so if one cable goes bust, we can use the generator for half of the building, and the second cable for the other half, for no noticable loss.

I like thunderstorms, but I do feel for the people out there fixing the lines. Give those people, constuction, power people and the like, some room people!

We had enough to bring up office lighting and computers, but the production lines are what keep us in business. We'd need a hell of a generator to keep those going.

We could run a small town with our generators. I love all that stuff, even if we never need it.

The generater we use powers Several hundred servers and two mainframes ... (some of the servers are 32+ CPU boxes) ... it's not a little honda, it's a Generator as big as a house

Same here, generator is huge and you don't want to be any where near it without ear protection.

Also have 12,000 Amp UPS :thumbsup:
