I want the settings, mail storage, etc moved from the default to another location of my choosing. Surely there is a way to do this but I cant figure it out from the settings or the help file. Can anyone point me in the right direction, please. Thanks.

I just installed Thunderbird and I did import from Outlook 2003. I like it a lot so far. To help me learn to use TBird I uninstalled Outlook. I hope I can make the transition, Outlook 2003 is slow to load even on my fast system.

Now I just need to find a build of Firefox tailored to run on my A64 system and I'll be all set.

I looked there last night, but I didn't see any AMD specific builds. There was a thread a while back that had links to such things. Thanks though, I won't pollute your thread with any more Firefox stuff Pete.

One thing I wish Thunderbird offered is an export ! I wanted to copy my wife's messages and address book to another PC so I could work on hers but it only offes an import function.

Maybe the next release will feature that. I need to do some reading on how to backup my mail in Thunderbird, I do a lot of formatting on my system (beta tester for MS operating systems) and I don't want to lose years' worth of mail.

BigPete, does this copy the messages as well ? I thought that just copied over your email profile, minus messages.

Funny how a Google search turned up nothing indicating it was this easy.

Yep, it sure does. I have Thunderbird setup to put all my emails in the "Local Folder" so as long as I back that up, I have all my emails.
