I have a Thunderbird 800 overclocked to 980Mhz with 9.5 multiplier and 103Mhz FSB (100+3) plus 1.85v core. I'm using ABIT KT7 (non RAID), Aopen HX08 Full Tower Case with 3 case fans installed and Global Win FOP38 for the proc. My question is, with the temperature reading at 33-35 degree celcius at idle and 45 at full load (SiSoft Sandra Burn In Wizard continuous loop for an hour), is my system cool enough? I'm planning to go up to 1Ghz pretty soon....any comment please? Btw, I use VIA Hardware Monitor for the temperature reading.
Thanks!

Something I have found is to raise the IO voltage to 3.5V (default is 3.3) and then try to lower your core voltage a little at a time... This will help with lowering your temp on the cpu and possibly allow you to make 1Ghz or higher (well known fact several Tbirds & Durons run faster at less voltage = less heat generation).

Also your temps now are not bad at all... ;)

Thanks for the info...will try to do that later and keep you posted. Btw, my I/O voltage is 3.4 instead of 3.3v already...and the core, at 1.825v it seems stabil but I just raised it to 1.85 because I found almost all people do that when overclocking more than 150Mhz. I think I'll have to drill some holes on my case....it's still untouched now...only installed fans into their reserved places inside.

I did it! I lowered the I/O to the normal 3.3v and still do with 1.85v Core, 9.5 x 106Mhz FSB = 1007Mhz. Temp reading still about the same, 35C idle and 45C Max at full load!

man continuous loop for an hour...

sometimes these test just aren't enough...haha
for me i run rc5/seti and 3dmark2000 for 48 hours looped...
than a few burning progs for a couple of 12 hour settings...

i'm kinda paranoid...dont' want my system kinda shutting down when i'm typing a fat paper... :)

ohhh 107...nice...for kt7 ...
i heard that you could squeeze more if you remove the abit hsf .. the small one...
and add some thermal paste...
to remove it just look at the bottom of the mobo...there are two white clips...that snap on...
it'll be obvious when you see it...but the things is you have to take out the mobo :(

bartman...had a question i forgot...
if you increase the i/o does that damage any pci cards and mem?

i once read creative suggested 3.5 for the live cards but never saw it in their sites...
