Thunder HEsl S2567 Boot Problem

I recently purchased this board used from fellow anandtech member. I hooked it up and it tested fine but ran into one problem, it can't boot off of a cdrom. I wish to install Win2K on it and never done an install without a bootable cdrom before (last floppy involved install was Win98 with a 3.5" boot disk 4 years ago). Is there a newer BIOS that can boot from a cdrom or do I need to rig a cdrom driver diskette to install an OS? Only options to boot from are the floppy drive and hard drive.

edit: this is the motherboard webpage. http://www.tyan.com/products/html/thunderhe.html

1) in the BIOS, try setting all the IDE positions to AUTO and see if it's all "oh, you mean THAT CD-ROM drive!" 😀

2) try a different optical drive and/or different IDE cable and/or different jumper settings?

Good luck 🙂

I tried different cables but used the same drive. The IDE's are set to auto and they do see the cdrom like it should. Its just not a bootable option.
