Thumbdrive danger??

I just picked up my first Thumbdrive today, a Memorex USB 2.0 256mb drive but was a little shocked by a warning that is on the side of the box.

"WARNING: Handling the cord on this product will expose you to lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling."

WTF?? Is this same warning on all thumbdrives, regardless of manufacturer? Is it just the cord and not the drive itself? Do you actually need the cord or can you just use the drive? Is this the case with all USB 2.0 cables??

Weird. Are you in California? Might just be that state that requires that warning.

Sounds like it just pertains to the cord.

Just today i was deciding between the Memorex or Sandisk drives for a gift for my sister, glad i got the sandisk...
