Are there any rules/etiquette I should know of?

He's the first of our bunch of friends to get married, so we're a tad inexperienced when it comes to the norm of things.

Can we just have it in the back yard of someone's house with food and drinks? Or is there more to it than that?

We're all 24 years old, so a pretty young crowd will be there.

Are you going to have a bachelor party at all?
Of course!! We're doing the bachelor party in Vegas with a plethora of strippers. Got that covered.

Just didn't know what an engagement party was supposed to be like.

Usually engagement parties are held for the ladies so that they can get presents early.

usually engagement parties are for both. its a time to officially announce the engagement to friends&families.
i think presents are rarely expected.

if you want a standard one--backyard with food and drinks is fine.

Ok, usually engagement parties are just parties to announce a couples engagement to friends and family.

I think it would be nice to have a casual BBQ in teh backyard. get some brats and chicken and beer and wine and just enjoy the company. Most of the time though, no gifts are necessary unless people want to get the couple something!

Its usually customary for teh host/hostess to make a quick toast as well.

and P.S. NO FREAKKIN STRIPPER!!!!
