Thresholds on cooling?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What should the different thresholds be on cooling. I have the following PC and was wondering what I should set the thresholds at. I was using the Asus monitoring software.

EVGA 320-P2-N815-AR GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card

ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor

GIGABYTE GH-PDU22-SC EVR Sleeve CPU Cooler

Western Digital Raptor X WD1500AHFD 150GB 10,000 RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive

HIPER HPU-4B580-MS ATX12V v2.2 580W Power Supply 100 - 120V

Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000SWA Silver Aluminum Modern Dream Tower Chassis Computer Case

CORSAIR XMS2 512MB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory

Is this a threshold to shut the machine down, give a warning, increase fan speeds? Can you give a little more info?

Personally, I would want to be warned if my CPU ever went over 60°C and my GPU went above 85-95°.

if you mean thermal shutdowns,

the average C2D has a thermal shutdown at 85C. Meaning the comp should turn itself off if the chip ever reached that temp on coretemp.

The mobo has a different shutdown, i believe its set at 65C.

Quads have a TS of 100C.

I believe my AMD had a TS of 65C

These are all coretemp TS. Except the mobo.

I believe GFX cards can all hold 100C+ before they under thermal threashold. I dont think the comp will shutdown if your GFX cards overheat.

I just want some thresholds to give me a warning if something gets too hot.

Thanks
