There are many other conflicts to cite - from the modern, with thousands killed in Paname, for example, to the older - the conquest of the Philippenes, Native Americans, etc.
I've seen the 500K/year estimates for Iraq sanctions, but don't know how accurate that is. Of course you can't be precise - what part of the poverty causing the people to be stuck without healthy water was the result of the sanctions, versus the powerty that existed without the sanctions?
2 million civilians in the north, 1 million in the south, another 2 million military personnel on all sides, plus the million in Cambodia that only happened because of our involvement. None of this of course includes the deaths from famine that our great nation caused either.
In Guatemala our stooges killed 200,000 for daring to elect people that lean left. In Nicuragua that number was 100,000 plus however many died in the drug trade the contras financed. Once again this doesn't include millions that die from easily preventable famines and illnesses that exist simply because we got involved.
In the middle east, we instigated and played both sides of a war that took a million lives, and rewarded them with sanctions that took twice that over the years.
You can dance with the numbers all you want but that doesn't change the fact that the united states is the main purveyor of evil in the world today. Just because we don't do fucked up shit on the home front doesn't mean we're not horrifying.
