We are not the MAIN purveyor of much anymore, except for bombast.

I believe the US generally acts in good faith but is often ignorant of or completely indifferent to the various peripheral consequences.

Like when we invented "the bomb" and now can't control who can create one.

This situation could go either way, perhaps the Iranians saw them and crossed over the border and snatched them, or perhaps they wandered in on their own. We'll probably never know anyways. People with the time and resources to travel to Turkey and then drive into hostile areas should be well prepared.

We might be subject to some propaganda from the Iranians but they'll be released and get book deals, we should be happy for them. :Q

They'd be getting waterboarded at Gitmo before sunset.
People are still getting waterboarded?!?

Interesting... got link?

Funny, when the US was the sole nuclear power, it used them too. A very reserved action.

One of the missing Americans has been identified by Kurdish authorities as Joshua Fattal. His mother, Laura Fattal of Elkins Park, Pa., issued a brief statement Sunday.

I have a Jewish friend who told me she knows the mother of one of the hikers, and that they really were just dumb college students and not CIA agents. Apparently the locals warned them repeatedly about going hiking where they did, TELLING them the border there is extremely ill-defined and it would be all too easy to wander into Iran proper but the dopes more or less ignored all this and went anyway.

If any of the three are actually Jewish (I don't know if they are, will have to ask) that small fact would surely exacerbate this situation politically inside Iran.

Dumb ass kids.

They're all hard-left liberal activists with connections to radical left-wing media. At least one of them self-identifies as a supporter of Mexico's Marxist Zapatista rebels.

I say let 'em stew for a while. They need to experience what true progressive justice is like outside of hated "Amerikkka."

That's highly exaggerated.

Two million Vietnamese were killed, and another million Southeast Asians in the fallout, especially the Khmer Rouge that came to power because of our policy.

We pushed Saddam to attack Iran, in a war that caused a million Iranian casualties.

Central American casualties were measured in the thousands, not the millions.

There are many other conflicts to cite - from the modern, with thousands killed in Paname, for example, to the older - the conquest of the Philippenes, Native Americans, etc.

I've seen the 500K/year estimates for Iraq sanctions, but don't know how accurate that is. Of course you can't be precise - what part of the poverty causing the people to be stuck without healthy water was the result of the sanctions, versus the powerty that existed without the sanctions?

2 million civilians in the north, 1 million in the south, another 2 million military personnel on all sides, plus the million in Cambodia that only happened because of our involvement. None of this of course includes the deaths from famine that our great nation caused either.

In Guatemala our stooges killed 200,000 for daring to elect people that lean left. In Nicuragua that number was 100,000 plus however many died in the drug trade the contras financed. Once again this doesn't include millions that die from easily preventable famines and illnesses that exist simply because we got involved.

In the middle east, we instigated and played both sides of a war that took a million lives, and rewarded them with sanctions that took twice that over the years.

You can dance with the numbers all you want but that doesn't change the fact that the united states is the main purveyor of evil in the world today. Just because we don't do fucked up shit on the home front doesn't mean we're not horrifying.

North Vietnam was agresor in that war so they are responsible for those deaths.

If you hate USA that much you should move to NK......

So telling the truth and using facts mean you hate the US.

Zegermans is not telling the truth, he's not using facts properly, and if he says the US is the main purveyor of evil in the world today, then yeah, I'd say he hates the US.

Since you apparently cannot see something so obvious, I'd say you're in the same boat as he.
