Three problems. :/

1. A couple of months ago this started. When I boot up my laptop, it says that my adapter isn't recognized. So of course, if the cord is removed, it shuts off.

2. My touchpad is being bitchy too. I have "click lock" turned off and it's still allowing it to recognize touches as left-clicks. Is there some other way I'm supposed to turn it off?

3. This is the embarrassing one. I've done this 4,203 times and I still can't remember I've fixed it. My start menu/bar has lodged itself on the right-side of my screen and I can't remember how to get it on the bottom.

Help?

1: Don't know, maybe a bad battery.

2: Poke around in the provided touchpad utility I guess. I never tried to turn it off tbh. I like it :^)

3: Right click the taskbar, and make sure "Lock taskbar" is unchecked, then click and drag to the bottom. Right click again, and check "Lock taskbar" to keep it in place.

Oooooh, oooooh I did it! I was dragging from the wrong part. :facepalm; haha Now if the other two problems were just as easy!

Huh... Make sure you're in the center of the bar, and not on the edge. It works for me :^/

Unlock the taskbar if you locked it, then position your cursor on the upper edge, and you should get double arrows. When you get the double arrows, click, and drag it up or down to get the size you want.

I took two pics. One is of the left and one of the right side. I couldn't fit it in one shot.

The other thing annoying about the touchpad is that I'll be typing and then all of a sudden it starts highlighting random things or jump to another part of the screen or even close a window. What is wrong with my system?! lol

Are you sure you aren't bumping the touchpad while typing? My Eee is pretty sensitive, and I have to be careful where I put my hands, or my cursor jumps around.

lol Anything is possible. Okay, I've gotten the bar almost situated. Now I'm trying to figure out why it's showing the date, *day of the week* and time. I think the day of the week is what's messing it up. Normally it just displays the date and time. Suggestions? I've been clicking everything I can think of to get rid of it.

No it's not. This is an auto function. Once you reduce the size of the taskbar down to its normal size the date and day of the week will go away leaving only the time.

Well damnit! The minimized windows are now next to the quick launch like they're supposed to be, but the bar is still like 1" thick. When I unlock the taskbar and get the double arrow, it won't go down any more. :hmm:

ok, 2 down 1 to go.

Since you are getting a BIOS warning for the adapter this last problem is most likely hardware related.

Are the power adapter's cables in good condition? (no cuts or twists)

Does the laptop charges normally?

Have you tried using your laptop without the battery? Does the warning persists even then?

Well, I'm half asleep now, but I'll answer the best I can. Good condition? I think so. I don't think there's any damage. It's not charging. It used to, though. I haven't tried it without the actual battery, no.

And I'm going to bed now, so I'll check back here tomorrow. Thanks, everyone, for the help.

To me it sounds like a bad AC adapter which will need to be replaced.

When I got that message on my dell laptop, they sent a tech who replaced the motherboard and gave me a new charger.

Before he left, I tried my old charger and it worked fine.

Moral of the story: it was the power->motherboard connection going crappy on me. But I still took the new power brick

A simple check with a multimeter could prove beyond any doubt whether the AC adapter is to blame or not.
