wow cool! I never heard they were going to make a new sim city. 3000 was great at first, but like the others, it got boring quickly because it didn't have enough stuff programmed into it to be realistic. hopefully this one will be better in that regard.

I had the opportunity to buy it on Saturday at the store in the mall.. they had tons of copies.. right on the shelf...
I don't think I'll buy it anyways, I don't really like it much actually.

wow, the game is looking pretty nice - maybe I should give it a try. Would someone who has the game check if my name (Philippe Cheng) is in the credits? I was one of the original programmers on the development team but they probably forgot about me because I was just a little intern... :p

Can you cut taxes for only the richest 1% in the game? ;) That would be fun to see little liberal characters running around like Chicken Little and little rich characters walking around doing their best Monty Burns impressions...'excellent'.

This is no difference than the other sim city's except you can see your city at night (resource hog when it switches night/day) its the same business deas, same ordinances etc.... in fact i disable the night time visual thing, and just keep it on daylight 24/7

the only major change in Sim City 4 is the terrain, there is more variety, and it looks "prettier", same thing iwth the buildings etc...

the game is also quite harder, and there is no difficulty setting like before. You start off with 100K in cash, and you will blow it all trying to get your city to bring in a profit.

very annoying, but i just need to get better at playing it I suppose

Maybe you're not seeing the big picture, because the Maxis developers were spending 99% of their time on the simulation. Every single meeting was on how cities develop and why. They also spent a lot of time studying urban development, AI, civil engineering, city data, and who knows what to make the simulation as real as possible. It was pretty clear that they didn't want to focus on the graphics until the simulation was fleshed out. The "pretty" graphics you see may seem like the only difference, but it's just the icing on the cake they added much later on

Actually...you can lower the taxes on the rich, and not on the poor......does wonders to your land value as the rich move in.

I remember playing Sim City on SNES. I think I logged about 10 hours a week bulldozing trailor trash. I miss those days... and it got really interesting when I found the money cheat.
