He didn't see her as a country, he saw her as a person. There's no way he could have predicted this would happen.

"The kiss prompted crowds to burn effigies of Richard Gere."

At least some good came of this terrible tragedy to the moral sensibilities of the Indian people.... ;)

1) Indian extremists are the most jobless people in the world. Its best to ignore them and hope they will go away.
2) What is acceptable in Indian cinema and television is all of a sudden a culture shock if done in an aids awareness campaign? Bullsh*t.
3) The media should try and spread more Aids awareness.

Thats what happens when a foreign man comes and starts kissing the most coveted, beautiful woman in the country.

Shilpa Shetty is none of the above.

Gere's really starting to show his age......

Gere's brother is a regular at my ex mother-in-laws bar here in SC. They are extremely estranged.

After reading all the YAGT threads on ATOT, it wouldn't surprise me if there were some that believed that.

He'd been dying his hair for a long time and now just lets it go gray. A gf of mine saw him in the airport once (she worked there) and he was extremely rude to her.

I knew India was conservative, but this is ridiculous.

And I was just watching a porn clip of a smoking Indian girl last night. Ok, TMI.

No, it's not enough information. Name of movie please.

This small clip does not have the movie title or the actress name unfortunately. Of course, why would I care for such mundane details?

god forbid all the f-ing idiotic men in india get their panties in a bunch when the pure image of their beloved indian actress is tarnished by kisses from a white man in America (especially when there's no problem with kissing in movies or tv in india)

I remember a big Indian movie that came out a few years ago (cant remember the name), but it was the first movie in which there was a kissing scene. Sparked a huge controversy over there.

Just because it isn't a big deal here doesn't mean it shouldn't be a big deal over there.

I can imagine that India or some people who live in India may have different standards in what they consider to be obscene than you do.
