They were charged with plotting a violent revolt using weapons of mass destruction.

Prosecutors alleged the eight men and one woman planned to kill a law enforcement official and then ambush the funeral using homemade bombs. The arrest was seen as a sign of the FBI's determination to crack down on the growing threat of violence posed by homegrown, right-wing militias in the country.

Much of the evidence against the Hutaree consisted of audio and video recordings made by an undercover agent and a paid informant who infiltrated the group.

In the recordings, David Stone Sr. described law enforcement as the enemy, discussed killing police officers and argued for the need to go to war against the government.

Defense attorneys had argued that what the seven did was just talk and were protected by their free speech rights.

Ironic that these guys are claiming rights to free speech while wanting to bring down the same government that protects that very right.

Seems the definition of weapons of mass destruction is getting a bit stretched these days...

The government does not protect your rights, the courts do.

If the government protected our rights, then we would not have all of these BS laws that are later declared unconstitutional.

It's actually been defined as such since 1994, basically right after the WTC bombing. US Code Title 18, Section 2332a.

(2) the term “weapon of mass destruction” means—
(A) any destructive device as defined in section 921 of this title;

Destructive device includes bombs. Basically anything intended to have mass casualties by design.

Therefore

Smoking and food (with obesity and heart attacks rates increase)

are now weapons of mass destruction.

That seems like a shockingly broad definition since a grenade is lumped in with an atomic or chemical bomb. Although its good to know Bush did find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq though. Just think of all those bombs, grenades and mines they had!

I don't think you bothered to actually read the link. Neither of those would be covered

That's just ridiculous, a fucking grenade is not a "Weapon of Mass Destruction".
