three different fusions - which one to pick? UPDATE: Bought one

Aharami

Lifer
Wife and I are looking for either a red or white fusion titanium with moonroof and nav. We prefer the white platinum over the ruby red color and the 19" H spoke wheels over the 19" Y spoke wheels. We found three fusions very close in price to each other.

Driver assist package includes blind spot monitoring, cross traffic alert, and lane keeping. Don't really care about lane keeping, but BLIS and cross traffic monitoring would be a safer choice with a little one on the way

Which one should we pick? Which one makes the most sense?

Fusion A:
Ruby Red with moonroof, nav, 19" Y spoke wheels (not the wheels we like), and driver assist package. - $32600

Fusion B:
White Platinum with moonroof, nav, 19" H spoke - $32045

Fusion C:
White Platinum with moonroof, nav, 19" H spoke, driver assist, and premium floor mats - $32060. Kicker is that this was a company car for the finance manager (or so I'm told) and has ~5000 miles on it.

Fusion C is the exact car we are looking for, but not sure if it makes sense to pay only a couple hundred dollars less for a car with 5K miles on it vs a brand spanking new car.

8/9/13 Update: ----------------------------------------------------------------
Bought the third one. After going back and forth, the dealer came down to $31.6K before any rebates (lowest I could get a brand new one with 0 miles would've been $33.4K). After the $2000 in rebates and another $750 in private cash (thanks seepy83!!!) I was able to get the car for around $31K OTD and $1200 below invoice for a similarly equipped brand new one. Not too bad for a car with 4650 miles on it. So far, I am pretty happy with it, but have only driven it one day.

I did get roped into buying the Premium Care Extended Service plan for $1100 which extends the bumper to bumper warranty to 5 yrs 75K miles. Seemed like a good idea at the time because of the dealer's trickery! They told me the plan is really $2300 but Ford allows new customers to buy it for $1000 off if purchased with the car. Ended up settling on $1100, but after I came back home and did some research, I found out that the plan can be bought anytime for $1395. Yea I did get it for $300 less, but I'm having 2nd thoughts on it. Essentially, I'm paying that extra money for only 2 more yrs, and also there is a $100 deductible per claim. It covers over 500+ parts according to the brochure, but it doesn't cover scheduled maintenance and the following:

MECHANICAL – Service adjustments and cleaning, software upgrades, batteries of all types and cables, engine belts, hoses, clamps & hose seals, brakes (front hub, drums, shoes, linings, disc rotors, pads), manual transmission clutch disc, coolant, exhaust system (includes catalytic converter), filters, fluids, lubricants, lights (bulbs, sealed beam, lenses, LED & HID lamps), shock absorbers, spark plugs and wires, squeaks and rattles, tires, tune-ups, wheel balancing, wheel alignment, wiper blades, wheel studs and compressed natural gas/liquid propane fuel system conversion components.

EXTERIOR – Service adjustments, glass and fixed (non-moving) body parts, bumpers, door handles, glass, mouldings, ornamentation, paint, rust, sheet metal, structural underbody framework, sideview mirrors (glass and housing), water leaks, wind noise, weatherstrips, wheels, wheel studs, wheel covers and ornaments, convertible top, fabric, zippers and fasteners.

INTERIOR – Buttons, carpets, dash pad, door and window handles, headliner, knobs, rearview mirror (glass and housing), trim and upholstery.

I believe I can still cancel, but not sure if I should. With all the tech that's in there, something's bound to break in 5 yrs. Been googling but the reviews are mixed. Did anyone here buy the ford premium care extended service plan? If so, I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.

Anyways, it's been raining non stop here, so havent had the chance to take any decent pics, but here are two crappy cell phone pics

Tight fit in my townhouse garage. Btw, what's with the ugly ass antenna?! And why couldn't Ford make the sunroof slightly wider? There's certainly space for it.

Tech galore!

You can't get the dealership to swap wheels? Lexus did it for us when we didn't want a chrome finish on them..

We asked. They can't. Surprised us too. Their reasoning was that the wheels are tied to the VIN, and if there is ever a recall because of the specific wheel model, our VIN will be omitted from the recall.

Option A since it has everything you seem to want. Saving ~500 bucks for 5k miles is not worth it IMO

edit: sans wheels but 5k miles vs different wheel design is a no brainer for me. plus with the 2k rebate you can get some nice wheels and sell the stock ones.

Personally, if I was going to spend money on a new car, it would have to be EXACTLY what I wanted. I would go with C and play hardball on the price.

No way I'd pay brand new price for a car with 5k miles on it. Have them do a dealer locate on it. I did that with my focus and still payed invoice less rebates.

FWIW though, that seems like *a lot* of money for "Just a Fusion". $34k before rebates? Yikes. You are into Acura TL/Lexus ES territory.

Maybe he isn't interested in a TL or ES? I know I wouldn't be, I dislike the beaks on the Acuras and the ES just looks weird. Plus I don't care much for imports in general anyway (I don't care if those model(s) are technically built here or not, just not a big fan of Honda or Toyota in general). A fusion is a pretty nice car these days.

There is no way that used demo model is worth what they're asking.

For reference, I paid $28k for a loaded Camry Hybrid a few months ago.

Wow, didn't realize the fusion titaniums had gotten so pricy. Obviously, at that price, the correct option is a well equipped mustang GT premium 😉

Not to put down the Fusion, but did you look at the Accord? We where all excited about the Fusion until we drop the Accord right after it. A fully loaded V6 is the same price and IMO is a much better car.

no, 32K before rebates. The prices I mentioned didnt include the 2K rebates. To get an TL with all the stuff that comes with the Fusion Titanium, it would cost $10K more

haha perfect execution of the canned ATG response. I was actually drooling over the GT500 at one of the dealers. Wife was like, yea sure it's nice, but where do you plan on putting the baby?

actually did. I am not kidding when I say this, but I felt 10 years older after that test drive. Took just one test drive to rule that car out. It's too practical...it makes too much sense. We need some nonsense in our car! 😛

Maybe I should give the Accord V6 another look, but I remember the interior not feeling or looking as nice/luxurious as the fusion or the mazda6. I was in love with the mazda6 GT interior. But that car is way under powered at the 30K price range

That literally doesn't make any sense. :colbert:

we had no emotional connection with that car like we did with the fusion or mazda6. The seats in the accord was flat, the handling was worse, and the car didn't feel like it had 273 horses under the hood. Hard to put my finger on it, but after that first test drive, we simultaneously decided that the accord isn't for us. But we gave that car only 1 test drive. We test drove all the other cars at least twice. Maybe I'll swing by the honda dealer tomorrow and give the accord another try.

1 test drive was all it took for us to disregard the Accord as well.

For us it came down to the Kia Optima and the Fusion Hybrid. Fusion won based on styling.

a while. 6-7 years at least. Yes, I know..the accord wins hands down in this category.

I wouldn't be so quick to say that. Maybe perceived resale value, but the domestics (Ford and GM in particular) have made great strides in improving stuff. Personally I drive an 11 year old GM without any issues aside from rust and all that brings with it (darn NY and OH salty winters!) but whatever...

I totally hear you on the connection part. If you drive a car and think "meh" then it makes sense to move on until you find something that feels right.

Sounds a bit Bravo Sierra to me but whatever. See if they'll knock the price back due to this "inconvenience" of yours.
