heroine is illegal, yet I see people shooting up every day :Q

Yike!
And I thought that this kind of thing only happens in the US & Quebec.

A moment of silent for my fellow BCer.

yes. Rack up another arguement for the fact that gun control does nothing.

Interesting.. I just went to West Edmonton Mall (biggest mall in teh world!) this past weekend, and you could buy all kinds of hand guns, even ones very similar to police issued glocks..

Handguns are legal in canada, just harder to get than a rifle.

But obviously not hard enough to keep them away from the people that SHOULDN'T possess them

I don't mean to underscore the seriousness of this situation, but it seems to me that American media would call this a bloodbath if it happened in the US.

yeah, thats true.

In canada, guns are for hunting, target shooting, law enforcement and military.

not for self defense.. etc..

Wow! They're used for the same things in the U.S.!!!!!

And, obviously they are used in "etc". Some Canadian murdered other Canadians with that .44 probably used for law enforcement or hunting.

Maybe because he was a raging psychopath?

I'm just saying that you cant use a gun for self defense like you can in the US, nor carry it. Thats the main difference.
plus the last bill C-68 bullshit where youre supposed to register arms..

but dont bitch at me, i'm just saying how the law works here.
I'm pro gun, btw.
(i'm also anti-stupid) 😀

its was pretty weird to see that sh!t like this had happenned in my side of town, I was in a client meeting all day and didnt hear about this until we heard a string of vehicles fly past out work on their way into town. They were special forces vans coming in from kelowna, someone mentioned that there was a hostage taking at the local college but thank god that wasn't the case. The government building is just down the street from UCC. Last i heard he did not take out his replacement, he took out a fellow colleague that tried to persuade him to stop and in turn got thanked with a bullet. He then shot a visiting government official from Surrey who was in town for a few days only. It was over in 2 minutes but nobody knew what was going on inside, hence the reason why it took over 4 hours. There was no hostage situation. It was a murder suicide.
