Threads w/ multiple pages have no ">>" option to go to last page.......

Find any thread in these forums that has multiple pages. You can click "next" or choose following page, but you can't go to the 'last' page.

However............if you're on a higher # page, you *do* have a "<<" option to go back to the first page.

Also..................at the bottom of any multi-page thread, I notice that the page #'s are cut off as if they're slipping out of view.

Hope that all made sense........and more importantly........we can get fixes for those.

Thanks!

Actully, there is a small arrow button next to the name of the author of the last post that takes you to the last page

Thanks NiteWulf.

FYI it's not visible once you're in the thread, which is pretty annoying. It's only visible when you're viewing the forum thread list.

This is better than nothing, but it'd be much better to have the ">>" next to the page numbers.

I cannot seem to find it, where do I look for it? Is it at the top of the page, bottom, topic summary? Where?

Thanks, but that is a real pain in the arse. Especially when I go to a thred via an email link. The topic is not always at the top of the thread list when you click on off topic. The lack of >>> makes it tough to get to the end of very old threads like "Alternator Sized Bulk Beef"

I wish they would have focused more on functionality when they made the switch

I agree, the new forum layout adds new features and in exchange removed functionality.

And I should say that on *most* forums when a hyperlink is included like that ">" for going to the last *page*, it's actually more commonly a last *POST* button, not *page*.

I actually thought it was a button that didn't work because I wasn't taken to the last post..........until I realized it was going to the last *page* but not the last *post*.

Is last *page* better??? (imho, no)

And there's still the issue of the page buttons being clipped off on their bottom *at* the bottom of the page. (watching the double 'bottom' there.......LOL).

Opinions?

The page numbers don't affect the cursor when you hover, so there's no feedback telling you they are links

Can we please get this back? There are so many reasons to have the last button, not to mention it's pretty much become a standard of all forums everywhere. Last post OR last page would be better than nothing.

A. It's costing Anandtech massive bandwith by causing one of the following to occur:
1. Pressing back multiple times, reloading previous pages/images/etc.
2. If you go back to far, you have to go forward-again loading a page
3. Loading up every 3rd (or 4th) page of a thread to keep progressing until the end in order to avoid having to press back multiple times.
4. Going back to the sub-forum thread screen and finding that the thread is not on the first page causes subsequent page loads to find the thread again to hit the last button
5. Performing a search for the thread again (in cases when one is looking at an older thread) to gain access to the last button

B. Inconvenient
1. Takes substantially longer to get to the end of a thread you're already in.
2. Extra page loads harsher for people without high-speed
3. Have to find threads again
4. Waiting on searches to complete
5. Wastes seconds of thousands of peoples' time = inefficient

C. Illogical

Anyways, wouldn't it just be a matter of copying the code from the thread results and putting them in the template for the first box inside of the thread?

It's pretty annoying. Does anyone think we should private message Jason Clark on this issue?

Oh, Yay!

I can now read Dave's Mega-Threads ;)

Otherwise, I've been missing this feature too.

Having to leave the page is not quite the same as having >>> in the actual page. The inconvenience is two things:
  1. Having to leave the page and then reload the Topic's area.
  2. The article may not be on the first couple of pages. It could be burried in the archive. So you then need to dig up the article to click on the last page button.

Please Put the >>> at the top of every thread next to the Page 1 2 3 4 5 >>> (Last)
