Why this was locked i don't know. I think a mod got trigger happy on this one. If you copy and paste the guys link to a pic of the laptop. If it would have been read and checked out. The place he linked is another online trading community. Not the guys business. It in no way shape or form looks as if a auction styled place rather than another place just like Anandtechs where you can try to sell your unwanted hardware. If you do a whois on the domain you'll notice that site isn't registered to that guy. Why i'm sticking my nose in here i have no clue but i think its kinda cold it got locked in the manner it did. Cause whoever locked it was in the wrong....

Linked for convenience.

It looks like to me is that the person was linking to his ad (you'll note the descriptions are exactly the same). However, had the person hosted the ad on a site like geocities, I doubt there would have been a problem. This has happened before, where a user was posing deals, but they linked to another company's website. The mods locked the threads, but when he started posting the deals on a site such as geocities, he was allowed to do so.

Others more imformed than I please correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Yes but that explanation and the mod explanation clearly dont jive. Unless there is information about the user we dont know (and there could be), it certainly seems the mod made a mistake.

Yes clearly a mistake was made. That site is not a online computer hardware business selling multiples of things. This guy has one laptop and he listed it at that place also. If there's info there we don't know about and i'm wrong i'm sorry but thats no way to lure in new members by locking their thread.
