Thread ratings

Would it be a good idea to be able to rate your own threads? I'm not talking about P&N and OT, but for the other forums. When someone gets their question answered and finds the thread helpful, they should be able to rate it. I was saying rating from 1-10. Then, someone will see that the thread has a high rating, and may also find it helpful.

If someone needs more clarification, let me know. I am never good at explaining certain things. But I hope you guys know what I mean. 🙂

This feature is implemented in the Apple Discussions. I thought it would be cool if Anandtech used a similar feature.

Your thoughts? 🙂

Heheh, owned. 😛

Though I think the admins would give you 2 out of 5 stars before banning you. 😛

They did have something like this sometime ago but removed it, forgot why.

Look under faq and #8

The "user rating" feature is based on a scale of 1 to 10, with "1" being the lowest and "10" being the highest.

Yeah I remember that feature. But this was rating users, not threads. I think it would be great to be able to rate threads so people will know whether it is helpful or not. 🙂

But what you would rate ignorant posts like this? You'd need a rating-scale that includes negative values.

If you bothered to read the OP carefully, it states that this should be implemented in the other forums, not OT and P&N.

Ahh.. gotta leave the neffing and trolling forums open to the kids, eh? :disgust:

So you actually believe that you can find stuff helpful in OT and P&N? Hardly. You don't get much out of P&N and OT. 🙂

btw, if we did have this feature in OT and P&N, more than 90% of the posts would get very low ratings, especially since most posts there lack substance, such as mine. Mine isn't any different than the others. 🙂

See, that's where you are wrong. Both P&N and OT have good and helpful threads aplenty, but the signal-to-noise ratio is so low, only the dedicated forum reader can still find the few nuggets of wisdom buried among the trolls and nefs. Which is also why posts like yours, that continue to needlessly muddy-up the waters in some vain attempt at juvenille wit, tend to earn you the title of Asshat Extraordinaire. Congratulations! Now why not go back to sh1t in your own feed trough, and leave the rest of us alone. :cookie:
