Thougthful or Trashing?

All my neighbors are taking their houses pretty good and clean except the one who lives across from my house is hella trashing. He never cleans up or moves his lawn. All trashes he dumps in front of his house flying in neighbor that made me mad. Is he thoughtfull that create works for whole neighbors?:|

why do you care? it's his property he can do whatever he wants with it as long as its nothing illegal. deal with it.

Some violations can be brought to the attention of the city, but that's not being such a great neighbor, either. What kind of trash is in the front yard, like cars up on blocks, old seats from cars & couches, etc.? Or just filled garbage cans kept in the front of the house? Living in a neighborhood does usually require getting along with many different types of people, good luck 🙂
 
I think he was trying to say this guy's trash gets blown into the neighbors' yards, all of whom put effort into making their homes look good only to have this one's trash tossed into it. I think he may have been asking for advice on how to deal with this neighbor.

Anything that makes the neighborhood look bad, you can at least try to bring it up with the city, there may be ordinances regarding it (like in some areas it's plain illegal to have a car on blocks in front of the house, in other areas it's not). First though, several of the neighbors (especially the ones right next door) should get together and either write a letter to this person asking that he clean up his act, or go to his house as a group or select someone to represent the group and go with a letter signed by everyone asking him to clean up.

Naturally he'll laugh in your face, but you can say you made a good faith effort. At that point, the neighbors on each side just build really high wooden fences. 🙂
 
Well from the grammar in your post I would say you are from a foreign country. I would guess Russia. It is quite common in Europe, for example, for everybody to mind everybody else's business. This makes for very clean neighborhoods because people are terrified they are going to get told to clean up. Americans are generally different. You normally don't tell an American what to do. It could even be risky. We are free to be pigs. It is a problem that freedom without responsibility leads to chaos. If you live in a new development there may be bylaws that require people to keep things looking nice and prevent people from painting their houses purple etc. This is not an easy problem to deal with. It is extremely hard, if you are used to order, to not constantly be irritated by having to look at your neighbor's yard. Maybe there is a reason they can't clean up. Maybe if you get to know them you will find they have good qualities that make up for their messiness. Maybe they will move.
 
I undertand how people get mad at their neighbors who make the 'hood look trashy. But what I do with my house and yard is none of anybody's business...as long as it is not endagering anyone. If I want to safely park my '70 Nova on blocks in my front yard and put the old refrigerator next to it, that's my business. If I want an eight foot fence, it's my business. If I want a lime green house, I'll paint it that way. Leave me alone and look at your own faults before you find mine.

In certain cases it is against the law to not take care of your property.

It's also really rude, as it can bring down the property values of neighboring houses.

I'm not saying you must have a professionally-landscaped lawn with topiaries, and a new paint job once a year, but there's a difference between a tidy yard and one with trash strewn everywhere.

You know there are some people that come from other countries where English isn't their native language. As a result, they might not be as proficient in english grammar as you are. :|

Isn't it rude to mind someone else's business? I know it decreases property values, but you can't tell me what to do about my property. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It might be beautiful to me to have cars on blocks in my front yard.
 
That's true Eoin, but some housing communities have certain rules where if they believe that you're making the community look bad, they'll ask you to clean up. 🙂 My parents used to keep this old green rotten looking car parked in front of our house and rarely used it since we had 2 other cars that were using the garage in back. Needless to say, after a few months some neighbors &quot;told&quot; on us and we received a letter in the mail shortly after stating that our car was making the community look bad. So, we were forced to move it.

If you wants to put trash in is yard, I'm afraid there's nothing you can do about it. I wouldn't care either, after all it IS his property. But if his trash starts to fly into other people's yards, well, that's just damn annoying and I'd tell someone about it. 😉
 
I have lived with a home owners association but not now, and never again for that reason. I keep my house nice, but I refuse to have anyone tell me that I have to. I pay for it. I'm an adult. I don't need more parents. If my neighbor wants to, it's their business. If I don't like it, I'll move or ignore it.

Well rude or not, it comes down to legality... and the law would ask &quot;would a reasonable (read: average) person allow trash to be strewn all over their yard?&quot; The answer would be no. A reasonable person takes trash from his or her house and places it in a trashcan for pickup by the city/county. A reasonable person does not take trash from his or her house and litter the yard with it.

About having a car on blocks--that most likely wouldn't be against the law. It's different if, as Mr craphead [uh, interesting nick you've got there] said, you choose to live in a community that enforces rules on how your property looks. In that case it is your choice to live in said community, and if you choose to live there you must abide by their rules and keep your property up accordingly.

Edit: Seeing as you don't live in an area with a homeowners association, you're not required to keep up your property, but it's a good thing to be neighborly and show a little respect for other people every now and then.
 
It depends on what you call trash. My old fridge might be painted real neat and be art that I want to display in my front yard.

I just like to play devil's advocate. But I really can't stand when someone tries to tell me what to do with MY property. This is one of those things that people have done to make America not so free.
 
That is a good example of personal expression. Bet his neighbors hate it. I wouldn't own it though. But I wouldn't tell them to change it.

My point here is not mentioning discrimination, race, sex, age...and you did not know what race my neighbor is. As I know, you are not 100% American also ( who would be beloved patriot). I just collect the ideas for making a better neighbor and I'm part of it. Would you?
 
My point is that how you see your neighbor's yard is a very cultural thing. Fully incultured Americans as you can see from this thread think your yard is your business and nobody elses. I tried to show the good and bad of two different ways to see this, one european and one american. Either culture has representatives of all races.

Mr. Chead I didn't see his name, I don't see words easily.

edit: I have a house in Sacto and thought he might be my Russian neighbor. 😀
