Thoughts on what it will take to save the world.

In the "If a nuke went off in Iran" thread I just posted:

"The day is fast approaching when any human being anywhere will be able to do something in his basement that can destroy the world. We will wonder then why we didn't pay more attention to mental health."

which got me to remembering some thoughts I had had earlier while trimming my hedge in the newly emergent spring sun.

It occurred to me that the definition of insanity is to believe that something out there is the reason you are unhappy. Now you probably should pause here and contemplate that for about a 100 years before I go on, because I am almost sure I just left 99% of the human race behind. And why not? If humanity were sane, if YOU were sane, do you think we'd be in the fix we're in?

Well let me say I am sorry, then, because I know that people are always insulted by data that should actually be seen as a profit to them. I even saw some quote about the wise feeling grateful for rebuke. But, I am wandering.

What does it mean that to be insane is to think your own unhappiness is because of some external, the wife, the job, the party in power, or the nation next door? How can it be insane when the whole human race thinks this way.

Well this is that hard part to really come to grips with, I think, because we love our tons of cabbage, our certainty in the fault of others. It is the fact that you and the universe are perfect. This is the identical world that Christ walked as God in, the Kingdom of Heaven, and we all have Christ within. Naturally, this idea can be expressed many ways and also without religion. We were born completely perfectly and in complete harmony with ourselves, expressing every felling exactly as felt. There was no split between who we were and what we manifested. We were in tune with the infinite. Then came the need to conform and the put down to insure you did. The spontaneity was lost in the artifice of ego. We learned to separate from our feelings and deny we had them.

Now all the feelings we have, the guilt and negatives that were directed at who we were, lie unconscious and projected.

A projection is the impression that something out there is feeling what we deny we are. It is the feeling, for example that we are hated by so in so, when it is us who hates ourselves.

So here we are completely perfect and totally insane, imagining the world is out to get us in this or that of various ways.

It ought to be clear then, that there is a way to save the world. It is to understand that all the misery in the world begins and ends in you. You are everything that you think is wrong out there and the suffering of the world ends in your own ego death.

Now to cure ourselves in the deepest fashion, all the way to the core, is a very difficult task. But we can all begin to change the world by one simple act. We can stop believing that our troubles are really out there. Your fear and hate for the other is your fear and hate of yourself. See that and you'll help to save the world. You will in fact have done everything one can do to save it unless, of course, you want to spread the word. But I wouldn't have too many high hopes in that respect. :)

But what about my headache? I woke up ths morning, and my back hurt. My nose was running. I head pounded. All I could think was "uggghhhh" and everything I saw was filtered by that.

The strugle is in the physical realm. If I could destroy my body, my thoughts would be free....

An interesting yet impossible utopia you envision. Its wishful intentions are a path to hell far worse than civilization today. I like my cabbages... at least they hold a realistic hope for man, rather than pinning my hopes on the psychological FAITH of a naive dreamer.
