Just been reading the threads on calcium - Milk vs OJ, and Red getting in an accident. I want to be told how I am wrong too.

I take 3000IU of Vitamin D a day - thats over an order of magnitude higher than government health recommends. Am I slowly killing myself.

It is not recommended to over use vitamin D, as this can lead to hypercalcemia (high calcium in blood). This may put you at risk for kidney stones. Some of the calcium may actually be leached from bone, and may have impact latter. Adults can tolerate much higher levels than kids who can have boney changes at greater than 400 UI/day. There is no reason to over use vit D.
Why are you getting so much?

I've been taking 50,000 IU a week. Last blood test showed me within range of normal vitamin D levels.
