I was just browsing thought a few sites and happed to find a Emachine for $599 I think this is a great deal what are your thoughts or do you own this system? It has gotten good reviews, I just like my fellow computer geeks info.

Here it is
E machines T6000
XP Home
Athlon 64 3200+ Socket 754
DDR 400 (PC-3200) 512mb
160gb hard drive 7,200rpm
DVD rom
cd-rw
floppy drive
media reader
ATI RADEON 9600 128 mb
modem
usb 2- 6 ports
fire wire
all the ports for audio and all that crap
It also has plenty of ports for all the other things one would need
keyboard and mouse

$599 (with a 100 off coupon

The only thing that a problem for me is its refurbished it comes with a warrenty and all that but I have need bought a refurbised pc.

If I do get it I have a DVD-RW to add to it and I will have to get a better graphics card down the road, oh and a monitor.

It's an eMachine, it's reburbed, and you could put all that together for around $400, $500 with WinXP. So no, not worth it. If you want a prebuilt PC check out the Hot Deals forum as there's almost always some dirt cheap Dell desktop on sale.

A lot of the prebuilt PCs come with cheap low-watt power supplies that might not work with a 6600GT or 6800.

I'd suggest going to newegg and price out something similar but with the parts you really want. Thread #1 in this forum, the "Guides" tab, and all the other system threads here should offer plenty of guidance on parts.

Stay away from Emachines. Period.

POS in this thread, would not mean Point of Sale. 😉
