thoughts on this case?

this case looks really nice. I like the rear 120mm fan (front is 80mm) and the front ports, and the styling...but I'm iffy on the PSU in terms of stability and oompf. I'm trying to build a system around a budget, so having to purchase a decent PSU to swap out, when this case is already $79 would not be very feasible for me. Any comments?

The system it would be running would be something like:

A64-939 3000+
2x 512MB PC3200
6600gt pci-e
Nforce 4 UT (probably DFI-lanparty)
Some tv tuner card (hauppauge 150MCE if it were ever in stock, or maybe Sapphire Theatrix 550)
80GB SATA
200GB ATA (already own)
DVD+-RW (already own)
Case and PSU

Uses: Image editing, Gaming, HTPC

*on a side note, I haven't really been able to configure something like this on a decent budget (<$750)....they've mostly been around $900+ *sigh*

hmm... The case looks great, but the PSU is a little weak. 16A on the 12V rail may not be enough.
A freind of mine is trying to build a similar system, but with a Skt 754 2800+, one less hard drive, and 6600GT agp. Weve decided on an included 450W PSU with 18A on the 12V rail.

EDIT: ill be pretty hard to get a 939 A64 and 6600GT system for sub $750, especially with NForce 4

psu is very weak but case seems okay, i would suggest antec slk-2600 or sonata, something along those lines.

'Cause I like the design. It's simple and functional w/ the ports in the front. I'm not a fan of LEDs or cases that look like transformers. Another case I had looked at was the Aspire X-dreamer II...but I kinda liked this one more.

As far 745/NF3 goes, I was thinking of doing 939 since dual-cores will be supported, which will hopefully benefit me as I get more serious with image editing as part of a business I plan of starting within the next year, also I figure the 939/NF4 and PCI-e will give me a couple extra years of upgradeability.

Maybe not?

How's the image quality of that $20 Hauppauge compare with the more recent stuff. Wouldn't it be substantially beneficial to have onboard mpeg encoding for a DVR?

I guess one thing I should think about is that, somewhere down the line upgrading to SLI (by penciling that DFI mobo) and a dual-core CPU. Just how big a PSU should I be looking at. I know the Antecs with their 350w's are pretty good...but will even their 350w's be enough?

Maybe I should just accept the fact that I shall be spending more money if I want to try to future-proof this machine at all (yes yes, I know, there's no such thing as future proofing)

I got that $20.00 card (Sells for $49.99 on Amazon.com) The image quality is great. I like it much better than the $99.00 ATI TV-Wonder I returned last week.

i have this case, and it cools very well. the stock psu has been running my rig for now, but it's getting upgraded as soon as i get enough money together. only problem is dust collects in the front mesh, making you vacuum it out every once in a while (once every week for me, living in a dorm.) the front led is rather bright, but i've found that to be true of most cases.

the psu has been running:

ga-k8nsnxp-939
a64 3500+
9800 pro
gig of ram
1x hard drive
2x optical drives

been running without any problems, but i would be reluctant to add another hard drive. your call.

Well, I figure I'd use an 80gig for my OS/apps/games drive and then the 200gig I already have would be for media...I guess I'd rather not partition the 200gig. Decisions decisions.

Atleast there's finally more nForce4s out on the market. Sure seemed to take a long time.

How 'bout this

I highly doubt the cooling will be anywhere near as good, but the PSU would be more reliable I'm sure and the fit/finish + desktop-ness of it + htpc-ness is pretty sweet.

[edit]
actually the sonata would be quite nice as well. Again, though, no front fan so probably not as cool.

[edit2]
Actually, after doing some research on the antec website it would appear that the sonata DOES take an optional 120mm front fan. Methinks I may have found my case!

I have an Antec "Overture" It's very quiet but it's huge and will be hard to find a place to put it. It will not fit into a System Rack. But the nice thing about it is if you have a place to put it, it looks very nice. I have a Thermaltake Tsunami Dream right now I would recommend it.
