Thoughts on the Oni Demo?

i just downloaded the game demo....i dont like the controls....too tedious and the jumping just plain sucks.

The controls definately suck. Hopefully they will be remappable with the final game. If not, I am going to be sadly disappointed. If they are though, I think the game will control great.

The game seems like it will be fun to play with the combo attacks and such. However, I hope the levels are better than the warehouse level. I thought that was kind of boring and too simple. The design and layout was not that good. Another disappointment.

I have your solution.

Ok, first off make sure you extract the thing to it's own directory with winzip rather than just running it, cause it'll just extract itself to a temp directory and play from there. Next start up the game once. After that look in the directory you put it in and you should now have a key_config.txt. You can just open that up with notepad or whatever and edit the controls there. Took me a couple tries to find what some of the keys should be called to be bound correctly (ex: if you wanna use the arrows it uparrow, downarrow etc. If you wanna use anything on the keypad it's numpad1 and such). Once I configured the controls how I liked the demo got a lot more fun. It looks good, it plays good...I'm thinking I will probably buy it.

I like this game but [PowerVR KYRO 32MB AGP] - Launch to black screen This card is not supported. <------WTF!?
It plays nice and smooth on my 64 meg kyro but the people don't have faces and her face is purple
I want support for the kyro!

How many different combo moves have you found? It looks like the kind of game I've been looking for, a mix of Street Fighter (just barely) with normal adventure/action, too bad they killed the multiplayer part of it...

What's wrong with the default key config? I use WASD for all my shooters and Heretic 2 was the same way.

What I don't like is the fact you can't tweak anything like the f***ing MOUSE SENSITIVITY!!! I have to drag the damn mouse halfway across the desk to get her to turn around.

Also, I was going thru the training and I couldn't get her to throw the bot. It would just knock it down and after a while, it wouldn't get up. So, with nothing to fight and pull off the required move against, I was dead in the water, with no choice but to do the whole training sequence again.

Not fun.

Not a good omen for another over-hyped game.

I always use X instead of S for moving backwards, just a personal preference.
I know what you mean about the mouse sensitivity though, it's such a pain in the butt, especially when you're holding a gun, slows down even more :|

well thanks for the key config......i still think the jumping sucks, is it me or is it way too floaty. Also the level graphics seem kinda bland.....not worth the 2 year dev time i think they wasted on this game...im assuming this is indicative of the ginal gameplay as well since the game went gold a long time ago and is waiting completion of the ps2 version for a january launch.
